Jesse Watters: ‘Conservative media is basically saving this country’

Fox News hosts Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters reamed today’s mainstream media for its widespread reckless reporting.

The hosts of “The Five” were discussing a scathing report by Reason that debunked a “study” by three professors claiming hate crimes spike in response to Trump rallies. The study went viral with Vox, the Washington Post and CNN (among other “news” outlets) carrying the message far and wide without vetting.

The rush to be first has always been something the media has struggled with, but now it’s the rush to be right. Right in the sense of “this study fits our liberal narrative so we won’t question it – it validates us.”

Only the study turned out to be more fake news, and the fake news perpetrators once again were left with egg on their faces.

“Professors aren’t really that smart,” Watters began as he agreed with Gutfeld, who brought up the story. “We hold them in this high esteem, and yeah, some of them are doing groundbreaking work… in this case, they’re not even that book-smart.”

Watters then turned from the “mediocre minds” of academia to the often viral condition of myths and misinformation.

“How many junk science studies have they done on global warming, on guns, on Russia? Think about all the other fake things that have gotten mainstream that a simple fact-check proves them wrong.”

Sadly, there are too many incidences of debunked and retracted stories to count. Just this week the New York Times was rightly slammed for spreading a non-story (call it a rumor) claiming sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The story was “corrected” after conservative journalist Mollie Hemmingway called out the Times for omitting a key component — the alleged “victim” doesn’t recall the alleged incident ever took place.

Of course, the Times’ Kavanaugh myth was already halfway around the world, with Democrat presidential hopefuls calling for the Justice’s impeachment before the truth had a chance to catch up. And that’s where conservative media comes in.

“Conservative media is basically saving this country,” Watters continued.

“They are doing God’s work. They are fact-checking the New York Times, CNN. They’re constantly poking holes. It’s exhausting. I think 75 percent of conservative media — all they’re doing is rebutting the lies told by Democrats and the mainstream media.”

Truer words may have never been spoken in this day and age.

Take just a few of the past few years’ biggest scandals that were completely debunked despite the media’s rabid desire to push the anti-Trump, anti-conservative narrative, at any cost.

Who can forget the case of the Kentucky teens from Covington Catholic high school who were smeared by the liberal media?

As BPR reported in February:

An initial video made it seem like the boys donning Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats were taunting Phillips, who banged a drum and chanted following the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 18. A full version of the video also shows the Black Hebrew Israelites insulting the group before Phillips approached.

The teen’s restraint was later praised as “laudatory” as the full scope of the incident began to unfold. But, it was conservative and alternative media, like BPR, that carried the truth.

Now, CNN and other media outlets are facing lawsuits over the ugly and untruthful smears.

The same can be said for the Jussie Smollet’s hate crime hoax. The actor’s tale of being assaulted by MAGA hat-wearing racists on dark Chicago streets didn’t exactly “feel right” to objective heads who first heard the story.

But that didn’t stop the mainstream media from treating Smollet like a victim and embarrassingly coming to his defense before it was revealed it was all made up to make Trump and his supporters look like racists.

Recently Smollett’s lawyers unbelievably said “even if” he had lied, it wasn’t their client’s fault the Chicago Police Department did such a thorough job conducting their investigation of the alleged incident. The move was an attempt to keep their client from paying $130,000 in a lawsuit filed against the Empire actor for wasting city resources.

Unfortunately, the constant retractions and corrections by the liberal media haven’t stopped the narrative, nor the left’s relentless quest to keep it alive. BizPac Review will be here every step of the way to beat it back and bring you the truth.
