Democrats will surely not be successful in impeaching President Trump, but they are throwing everything they’ve got into a dizzying wagon full of investigations.
The latest in the efforts of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to thwart Trump and his administration from doing the job he’s been elected to do involves a new probe into Vice President Mike Pence’s stay at a Trump hotel in Ireland.
In a letter to White House Counsel Pat Cipollone and Secret Service Director James M. Murray on Thursday, The New York Democrat requested information about Trump’s “apparent promotion and solicitation of foreign and U.S. government business at Trump Organization or affiliated properties.”
The drama began when Pence, along with second lady Karen Pence, traveled with his mother and sister in a visit to Ireland which was rearranged to include the stop in Doonbeg where he has family ties. His official duties involving most of his meetings with Irish leaders actually were set in Dublin, more than 125 miles away, sparking outrage by the left over the alleged misuse of taxpayer dollars and for being another example of how the visit would benefit Trump and his properties.
House Democrats floated the argument that the president’s alleged invitation to Pence to stay at the Trump International Golf Club in Doonbeg could be a violation of the Constitution’s emoluments clause. Nadler also singled out the president’s recent remarks regarding the 2020 G7 summit which is to be hosted by the United States and which Trump suggested could be held at his 800-acre golf resort, Trump National Doral Miami.

“The Doral and Doonbeg cases are just two of the many examples of the solicitation or receipt of foreign government spending to the benefit of the President’s private financial interests,” Nadler wrote in his letter Thursday.
“While White House officials have repeatedly claimed it is easier for Secret Service and law enforcement to secure the President’s resorts when he and the Vice President travel, there has been no confirmation by law enforcement or the Secret Service to support the practice of spending taxpayer dollars on the President’s businesses,” he added.
Pence told reporters after the uproar over his Ireland visit that the State Department had approved the arrangements.
“If you have a chance to get to Doonbeg, you’ll find it’s a fairly small place and the opportunity to stay at the Trump National in Doonbeg, to accommodate the unique footprint that comes with our security detail and other personnel, made it logical,” Pence said.
But Democrats are on another witch hunt and will find any ground to use against Trump in hopes of impeaching him.
“The impact that the President’s business interests may have on his official conduct and American foreign policy interests demands scrutiny by Congress-as does the use of taxpayer dollars on properties or businesses benefiting the president,” Nadler wrote, oblivious to his own waste of taxpayer dollars by running multiple investigations in to a sitting president and his administration.
Nadler’s latest power move was to issue a subpoena to secure materials related to jokes made by Trump.

Nadler is not alone, however, as the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Elijah Cummings, also requested documents about Pence’s visit, including “itemized costs,” in letters to the White House, the Trump Organization, U.S. Secret Service and the Vice President’s Office.
“The Committee does not believe that U.S. taxpayer funds should be used to personally enrich President Trump, his family, and his companies,” the Maryland Democrat wrote.
The document requests both have a September 19 deadline.
One has to wonder how Nadler and Cummings have time to represent the constituents who elected them in their own districts when they are so busy chasing after documents about Trump’s hotel bills and jokes.
