Citing anonymous sources, over the weekend The Washington Post ran a report claiming that President Donald Trump’s advisers and allies feel as if he’s wasted his summer on “self-inflicted controversies and squandered opportunities” versus accomplishing something meaningful.
Two days later on Tuesday, the White House formally responded with a nearly 2-minute-long video outlining every single thing that the president has accomplished thus far this summer.

Here’s a quick summary of just some of the accomplishments:
The president successfully negotiated an immigration deal with Mexico.
The president signed a historic asylum deal with Guatemala.
The president forgave student loans for over 25,000 disabled veterans.
The president imposed further sanctions on Iran.
The president became the first U.S. president to ever step foot in the DMZ.
The president issued an executive order that helps consumers who need medical care.
The president announced a trade deal with Japan.
Etc. Etc. Etc.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham responded to the Post’s report as well, writing, “The WH provided @washingtonpost more than TWO DOZEN examples of all @realDonaldTrump has done over the summer, but they chose to put out a hit piece full of opinion rather than fact.”
Alleged opinion, rather, as most of the Post’s White House sources were anonymous.
“A Republican operative in frequent touch with the White House described the mood from the ‘staff guys and gals’ as one of weariness,” one section of the report reads.
“‘Exhaustion, fatigue, wake us when it’s over,’ said the operative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to summarize the sentiment of private conversations. ‘They’re just tired.'”
No direct quotes were cited, except those offered by the administration’s spokespeople, all of whom had nothing but positive remarks to make about the president’s summer.
“I don’t know how anyone could see this summer as anything but successful with the president continuing to deliver on his promises to the American people despite the negative news coverage of this administration,” White House spokesperson Judd Deere said.
“President Trump has accomplished more at this point in his first term than any president in history and his policies are building a safer, stronger and more secure America.”

The piece also contains a stunning amount of opinion from the Post’s writers themselves.
Case in point: “Trump leveled racist attacks against four congresswomen of color dubbed ‘the Squad.’ He derided the majority-black city of Baltimore as ‘rat and rodent infested.’ His anti-immigrant rhetoric was echoed in a missive that authorities believe a mass shooting suspect posted.”
Fact-check: FALSE, FALSE, FALSE.
The belief that the president’s criticisms of radical freshmen Democrat Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley were “racist” is an opinion, not a fact.
The president’s criticisms of Baltimore were based on it being run by Democrats and had nothing to do with the city’s diverse demographics.
The president has not espoused “anti-immigrant” rhetoric but rather rhetoric against illegal immigration, which is and has always been a federal crime. As for legal immigration, he’s not only called for more of it — also he’s personally participated in several naturalization ceremonies.
The fiercest criticism of the Post’s dubious report was leveled by the president himself.
“The Amazon Washington Post did a story that I brought racist attacks against the ‘Squad.’ No, they brought racist attacks against our Nation. All I do is call them out for the horrible things they have said. The Democrats have become the Party of the Squad!” he tweeted Monday.

The LameStream Media has gone totally CRAZY! They write whatever they want, seldom have sources (even though they say they do), never do “fact checking” anymore, and are only looking for the “kill.” They take good news and make it bad. They are now beyond Fake, they are Corrupt..

His tweets weren’t wrong. Within the past few weeks, the media have reported outright falsehoods about the president’s new policies, claimed without evidence that he’s benefited from loans cosigned by Russian oligarchs and accused him of screwing over illegal alien kids with cancer.
And this week Bloomberg ran a smear piece against since-resigned Department of Labor senior adviser Leif Olson accusing him of posting anti-Semitic Facebook posts. That too was a lie.
