A probation officer in Georgia has resigned amid an internal investigation into her friend’s use of a police officer’s badge and gun to get free snacks.
Brandi Green, an officer with the Department of Community Supervision, was suspended but later resigned after her friend, Pektra LaQuiche Edgerton, was arrested for impersonating an officer, according to WSB-TV.

Edgerton accused the police officer who questioned her at a convenience store after scoring her free food of targeting her because she is black. But Gwinnett County Police Officer J.T. Smith quickly shot down her attempt to pull the race card as seen in his body cam footage.
The 33-year-old seemed suspicious to Smith as she visited the QuikTrip last week to take advantage of the courtesy extended to first responders. The Duluth gas station, like many other businesses, offers discounts to law enforcement officers, according to AJC.
Smith pulled Edgerton over after she got her free snacks, as he did not recognize her as a police officer.

“Did you stop me because my brake light is out or did you stop me to ask me who I work for?” Edgerton asked him in the body cam footage, clearly still wearing the gun and badge Green, who sat beside her, had let her borrow.
“I’m asking you both,” Smith replied, getting into a debate with Edgerton who pushed back on all the questions he was asking her.
“Long story short, I just want to know who you work for,” he finally said.
“And that’s the issue? Why do you want to know who I work for?” she asked.
“Because I’ve never seen you around here before. You’re not a police officer that works here,” he responded. “Are you a police officer or are you not a police officer?”
“So because a black person walks into a store with a badge and a gun, it’s an issue,” Edgerton fired back.
“It has nothing to do with you being black,” the officer countered, pressing her to answer his question.
Edgerton, who initially claimed she still worked for the Department of Community Supervision, finally admitted she was not employed by there.
“So why would you go into QuikTrip and get free food with your badge and gun?” Smith asked
“You don’t have to be a police officer to go in there. I’ve been doing it for three years,” Edgerton replied, telling the officer “it’s not probable cause, it’s personal.”
She insisted she was targeted by Smith and denied stealing any food though the officer said her “presenting” herself as an actual cop with a gun and a badge was dishonest. The exchange continued to go on as Edgerton refused to give Smith more information as he pressed to find out where she worked and who her supervisor was.
Smith eventually got in touch with the department and verified Green’s position, advising the office that she had given her friend her badge and gun.
“Upon being made aware of Ms. Green’s conduct, an internal investigation was initiated and Ms. Green was immediately suspended,” DCS said in a statement. “After Ms. Green was made aware of the forthcoming investigation, she resigned … on the same day.”
Edgerton posted bond after being arrested on a felony impersonating an officer charge, according to WSB-TV.
A collective face-palm echoed across Twitter in reaction to the report.
Is anyone surprised by any of this?
