Testy Joe Biden grabs arm of young woman after her questions on gender: ‘Don’t play games with me, kid’

Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to forcefully grab the arm of a young woman in a campaign stop crowd after attempting to answer her question about gender.

While campaigning at the “Political Soapbox” at the Iowa State Fair on Thursday, the Democratic presidential candidate was approached by a student named Katie who said in a video of the incident that his actions made her “very, very mad.”

“Mr. Vice President, I’m a student here and I’m wondering, how many genders are there?” she asked Biden as he made his way through the crowd.

“Pardon me?” the Democrat asked.

“How many genders are there?” Katie repeated the question.

“There are at least three,” Biden replied.

“What are they?” Katie asked.

The 76-year-old former senator seemed to get annoyed and to be done with the line of questioning, responding,  “Don’t play games with me, kid.”

After a few seconds, Biden reached out and appeared to grab the young woman’s arm as he added a comment.

“By the way, the first one to come out for marriage was me,” he said, apparently referring to his support for gay marriage.

Katie described what happened in a video that was then shared by Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. But it wasn’t just his answer, which probably sparked even more questions, that bothered the student.

“I started to walk away and then, it doesn’t stop there, he grabs my arm and pulls me back to make eye contact with him again and yells something about marriage at me,” Katie continued. “So I walked away and I was mad, just very, very mad that someone would actually treat me like that.”

The incident comes amid a series of gaffes by the former vice president in recent days, including several at the same Iowa State Fair event on Thursday as he rallied the crowd at one point by declaring that Americans “choose truth over facts.”

He also appeared to forget that Thomas Jefferson was a U.S. president, and said that “poor kids are just as bright, just as talented, as white kids.”

Katie may not have caught Biden’s reference to his support of gay marriage, which sparked some surprise back in the Obama administration back in 2012.

“The President sets the policy. I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men marrying women are entitled to the same exact rights. All the civil rights, all the civil liberties. And quite frankly I don’t see much of a distinction beyond that,” the then-vice president told The New Yorker.

But Katie’s anger about being grabbed by the 2020 Democratic hopeful was quite clear. And it presented another incident of Biden allegedly inappropriately touching women and girls, as he already faced several allegations this year.

Former Nevada state legislator and Bernie Sanders supporter, Lucy Flores, accused Biden of “inappropriate” touching during a campaign rally. And though he responded by stating he saying that “not once – never – did I believe I acted inappropriately,” he later pledged to be more thoughtful in his interactions in the future.
