Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker has got jokes.
Speaking Monday on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” the 2020 contender mocked President Donald Trump as an “elderly, out-of-shape man” and “physically weak specimen.”
He made the remarks while trying to explain to the audience how it’s not appropriate to use the president’s own alleged “tactics” against him …
“Look, I was running on an Iowa stage, and we were so psyched,” he said. “Hundreds of people there. I’m about to jump up, and this guy sees me, a former tight end for Stanford University. He’s a big guy. He puts his arm around me, and he goes, ‘Dude, I want you to punch Donald Trump in the face.’ And I stop in my tracks and I go, ‘Dude, that’s a felony, man.'”
“And, you know, this — Donald Trump is a guy who you understand he hurts you, and my testosterone sometimes makes me want to feel like punching him, which would be bad for this elderly, out-of-shape man that he is if I did that. This physically weak specimen. A physically weak specimen.”
Listen:
“But you see what I’m talking there?” the 2020 contender continued. “That’s his tactics. And you don’t beat a bully like him fighting him on his tactics, on his terms, using his turf. He’s the body shamer. He’s the guy that shows — tries to drag people in the gutter.”
“And I — This is a moral moment in America. And to me, what we need from our next leader, especially after the time of moral vandalism that we’re in right now, is we need a leader that’s not gonna call us to the worst of who we are but call us to the best of who we are.”
The president’s certainly a jokester, yes, but in terms of acting like a macho, swellheaded boob with no class and dignity, that honor actually appears to fall on Booker’s contender in the Democrat primary, former President Joe Biden.
During the last presidential election, the then-outgoing-VP told a crowd of then-Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s supporters that he wanted to drag Trump “behind the gym” and beat him up.
Only after Biden made these remarks did Trump don a macho attitude of his own to let the VP know that he’d “go down fast and hard” in a fight between them:
Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy. Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault. He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!

And when asked during an MSNBC interview just last week how he’d respond on the debate stage if the president were to start making fun of his old and mental stage, Biden said he’d challenge Trump to a push-up contest.
“I’d say, ‘C’mon Donald, c’mon man. How many push-ups do you want to do here, pal?'” Biden responded. “I mean, jokingly. ‘C’mon, run with me, man.'”
As for Booker’s joking attempts to portray Trump as old and weak, those claims don’t seem to jibe with reality. The president reportedly sleeps only four to five hours a night yet appears to remain more active and alert than the average American.
Last year Business Insider correspondent Shana Lebowitz tried to abide by the president’s strict low-sleep, high-energy daily routine for a week straight — and she could barely handle it.
“Now that it’s all over, I’m left wondering how Trump has so much energy — both physically, because he reportedly only sleeps four hours a night, and mentally, because he reportedly watches at least four hours of cable news every day,” she admitted afterward.
“Ultimately, I found it a lot trickier to follow the president’s routine than I’d expected. … I’m exhausted. I guess the president has more energy than I do — which, when you really think about it, is probably a good thing.”
Meanwhile, despite the president’s age, he remains as healthy as an ox and has repeatedly passed his annual physical and mental health exams with flying colors.

It’s perhaps because of these reasons — the president’s stunning health and rigorous daily routines — that some social media users responded to Booker’s remarks with mockery and laughter.
Others chided him for his hypocrisy. They wondered how he could effectively “body shame” and “age shame” the president, but then turn around and talking about not stooping to that level.

Booker is an idiot. He first body-shames the president and then – claims that is a tactic the president uses! Well Booker, you are no Spartacus yourself but you are one nasty hypocrite.

This kind of narrative is disgraceful. Once again there are no consequences for bad behaviour. Time to really assess whether these conmen should be allowed a media licence. https://t.co/KEb7qZylRY
