Not that the average, bubble-encased liberal Democrat cares to listen to the truth, but according to CNN Washington correspondent Jake Tapper, the Democrat Party’s infamous “squad” of radical congressional Democrats is ticking off a lot of people within the party.
And Trump is doing what he does best… winning.
In a series of tweets posted early Wednesday evening, Tapper described how he’d “spent the day talking to a bunch of” Democrats about how they feel about the four Democrat women and their ongoing feud with President Donald Trump. And according to their testimony, they aren’t feeling too great.
“The president won this one,” one unnamed House Democrat said of the feud. “What the president has done is politically brilliant. Pelosi was trying to marginalize these folks and the president has now identified the entire party with them.”
True. Prior to the huge dust-up this past weekend over the president’s trash-talking tweets, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had been essentially trying to put the “squad” members in their place and convince them to shut up and stop running their traps. But thanks to Trump’s tweets and the resultant backlash, she’s since been forced to back them as up as if they’re her own daughters.

House Democrats appeared unified in their votes this week but I’ve spent the day talking to a bunch of them and many are extremely frustrated. All agree POTUS’s tweets needed to be condemned; they spoke under condition of anonymity so they could be candid. (Thread)

2/ “The president won this one,” said House Dem 1 of the Trump v Squad (AOC, Tlaib, Omar & Pressley) showdown. “What the president has done is politically brilliant. Pelosi was trying to marginalize these folks and the president has now identified the entire party with them.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
3/ Another issue: what are Dems focused on? Is it what will help the class of 2018 (largely more moderate than the Squad) get reelected?
Dem Rep 2: “The president’s words and actions speak for themselves. We need to focus on the issues that got them here: jobs, health care…”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
4/ “…instead of the issues the president brings up deliberately. Anything that takes away from bread and butter issues is playing into his hands.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
5/ Other House Democrats are conflicted about having to defend the Squad given things they’ve said and done. House Dems cited: talk of supporting challengers to incumbent Dems in primaries, AOC’s use of the term “concentration camps,” anti-Semitic comments by Tlaib & Omar.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
6/ This perceived selective outrage rankled some Dems.
“Everybody was completely outraged by what the president said,” said House Dem 3, “and everybody thought it was appropriate to criticize him…
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
7/ “…but this was the *first* time the House has taken action to criticize him in any way, We couldn’t even bring ourselves to have a resolution exclusively condemning anti-Semitism uttered by one of those members” — Omar — “but we leapt to their defense here.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
8/ A few House Dems noted that Omar and Tlaib just introduced a resolution affirming the right of Americans to boycott, perceived as an expression of support for the anti-Israel BDS (boycott, divest, and sanction) movement that most House Dems oppose.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
9/ “So we’ll hear a tirade of attacks on Israel from the same group,” said House Dem 3. “Hopefully they won’t be anti Semitic.”
House Dem 4 also brought up that bill coming “from someone with a history of anti-Semitism” — Omar — “So yeah it’s challenging.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
10/ House Dem 4 recalls that “less than 2 weeks ago when members of our caucus were trying to support funds for children at the border,” the Squad was arguing that “we’re pro-putting kids in cages, we’re against human rights. So there’s frustration.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
11/ Others noted that this week the House Democratic Caucus stood by a group that is not perceived as standing by them.
“I can’t tell you the number of Members who are angry and annoyed about them criticizing us,” said House Dem 3.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
12/ AOC, in particular “gives her chief of staff license to get candidates to run against her colleagues and to go after them on social media. It makes people’s skin crawl,” said House Dem 3.
House Dem 4 summed it up: “We were there for them; they should stop attacking us.”
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) July 17, 2019
In summary, House Democrats believe that …
- Trump won the feud with the so-called “squad”;
- the party’s leadership should focus on policies, not the president’s tweets;
- the “squad” members need to be primaried out of office;
- the “squad” members’ bombastic rhetoric about “concentration” camps is damaging;
- the “squad” members anti-Semitic remarks deserve equal outrage to Trump’s tweets;
- “squad” members Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are blatant anti-Semites;
- “squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her staff members need to stop attacking fellow Democrats.
While these seem like fair criticisms, some members of the Democrat Party’s increasingly radicalized base seem to believe these cogent points shared by Tapper are “fake news.”
That’s right, the same people who call the president a “fascist” and Nazi because of his own criticisms of the “fake news media” appear to have fallen in love with his favorite words.
The far left magazine Slate went so far as to suggest “Jake Tapper Appears to Have Taken a Break From Truth-Telling.”
Other members of the base do believe the allegations but just don’t care for them. To them, the “squad” of anti-Semitic, trash-talking, lie-spewing Democrat women isn’t the problem. Rather, the “centrist” Democrats who oppose their rein of terror are the real issue.
Look (*LANGUAGE WARNING):
Useless centrist democrats who gave Trump admin billion$ for his concentration camp, child separation, and ICE raids with ZERO oversight are now whining backstabbing AOC off the record.
If they don’t want a primary challenges, they need to look at their voting record not at AOC.

Whoever said that to you is both stupid and despicable. Describing the most obvious strategic intent as “brilliant” and completely misreading the ongoing repercussions. Jesus wept.

Whoever said that was no Democrat.
— Miss Behavior (@Rbrbndgrl) July 18, 2019
Whichever Democratic Representative who said this shouldn’t be in Congress.

I can never say this enough:
FUCK. THESE. PEOPLE.
“The President won this one,” said another House Dem lawmaker of the showdown.
You have to be out of your mind, and on some level agree with the racist diatribe #Trump spews, to have this reaction.https://t.co/z5F68gSpga

If you’re an elected Democrat who believes Trump is politically “brilliant” for launching a racist attack against your colleagues of color and believe we should ignore his hate, you don’t deserve the office you hold or the trust of the voters you represent https://t.co/gvi5QNsXwb

Note what the first tweeter wrote about “[u]seless centrist democrats who gave Trump admin billion$ for his concentration camp, child separation, and ICE raids with ZERO oversight are now whining backstabbing AOC off the record.”
That’s one way of putting it. Another way — one put forth by White House counselor Kellyanne Conway — is that members of the “squad” are the “useless” ones.
“These four people in this so-called squad, that have done squat in Congress other than pose on magazine covers and go on late-night comedy shows and cause trouble in their own caucus … They’re the only four Democrats to vote against a Democratic package and the package that got signed into law,” she said on Tuesday on Fox News.
Had the package failed to pass because of the “squad,” the situation along the border would be worse now, not better.
Also take note of all the tweets calling for the removal of those “centrists” who want to steer the Democrat Party in a more moderate direction.
Considering that U.S. Immigration and Customers Enforcement has a higher favorability rating than any one of the four “squad” members, Democrats might want to be careful of what they wish for …
