Eric Trump said Wednesday he supported his father, President Donald Trump, for calling out the “squad” of four freshman Democrats for their contempt for America, declaring this radical quartet an “absolute clownshow.”
Which may be insulting to clowns.
The four left-wing progressives include, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.
“I love the tweet, ‘If you don’t love our country, get out. Leave,’” the younger Trump said during an appearance on Fox & Friends. “You know, if you complain about our country, you know, go to somewhere — go experience somewhere else in the world. I have seen a lot of the world, right? We have it so great in America — America is doing so well.”
“I’m not saying America doesn’t have certain problems,” he added. “Go see conditions around the world and you will be so fortunate you live here — we are blessed to live in this country.”
The tweet Trump appeared to reference is seen here:
The remarks came after co-host Steve Doocy challenged the president’s tweet telling the four Democrat lawmakers to “go back” to where they came from, asking his son if it was appropriate.
The scenario President Trump laid out included a remark about them coming back — his bare-knuckle message being they have no track record to be lecturing others on how to run the country.
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” Trump said in a tweet. “Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough.”
The president’s son pointed out how intolerant progressive Democrats are toward anyone who doesn’t look like them or think like them, calling this cabal “the most hate-filled group I’ve ever seen.”
He also pointed out the one trait that rises above all others when it comes to many of the president’s supporters, the willingness to fight the political class.
“The amazing thing about my father I’ve seen in my whole life is the guy’s the greatest fighter in the world,” Trump said. “He’s willing to fight and I’ve said this time and time again, but America didn’t have a fighter for administrations — by the way, both on the Republican and Democratic side. We haven’t had somebody in there fighting.”
He named a number of issues his father has been fighting, issues like trade with China and illegal immigration with Mexico. Other issues included the U.S. military and veterans, the economy, American pride and the national anthem.
“My father is in there, and he’s fighting every single day,” Eric Trump said. “And he has to fight against the media. He has to fight against these lunatics. And guys, I’m telling you, 95 percent of this country is behind him in this message. I mean, people love this nation.”
Critics are sure to jump on the “95 percent” claim, citing any number of polls, but the point Trump was making is that far more people support his father than what’s seen in the media.
