If the U.S. Congress is good for one thing these days, it’s striking steel to flint and inflaming political and cultural tensions. House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, decided Monday that “certain targeted members” of Congress are in need of enhanced security after President Trump’s complaints the last few days about the extreme left freshmen congresswomen known as “the squad.”
Thompson did his part to continue fanning the flames by sending a letter to House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving and Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger, stating that the Capital Police Board should meet within 48 hours to “analyze the current threat environment and set thresholds for enhanced safety of Members.”
Fox News reported the story of Thompson’s letter in which he also asked for a classified readout of the meeting.
According to Thompson, Fox News reported, security officials should “set thresholds for enhanced security for certain targeted Members, and evaluate threat streams with law enforcement partners in Member districts. Being proactive in this instance is vital to the safety of not only these targeted Members, but all Members of Congress.”
Interestingly, the reporters breaking the story wrote: “Fox News has been told that despite Thompson’s pleas, other lawmakers have faced more serious threats than members of the squad ahead of Trump’s tweets.”
Clearly, the recent Trump criticisms of the disrespectful socialist congresswomen did not come out of nowhere and he was in fact responding to their own vile rhetoric. The claims of racism and name-calling directed at the President has been an ongoing tactic used by the Democrat party since his election, and Thompson himself has been an active participant.
Shortly before sending his letter asking for more security protection, he issued this inflammatory tweet: “The President’s statements came as no surprise to me. He is being who he has always been. Trump’s tweets were an attempt to reinforce his major priority—’Making America White Again.’ His words are nothing short of a dog whistle to his base and white supremacists. There are 29 Members of Congress who were not born in the United States; just like his wife. The leader of our nation should not be vile, racist, misogynistic, or xenophobic. He is an embarrassment to this nation and a disgrace to the office he holds.”

Late Monday afternoon, President Trump pointed out in a tweet: “The Dems were trying to distance themselves from the four ‘progressives,’ but now they are forced to embrace them. That means they are endorsing Socialism, hate of Israel and the USA! Not good for the Democrats!”
The Dems were trying to distance themselves from the four “progressives,” but now they are forced to embrace them. That means they are endorsing Socialism, hate of Israel and the USA! Not good for the Democrats!
The infamous squad is made up of freshmen Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
The current war of words has people choosing sides on social media who would normally prefer to sit out the ugliness …
I want protection from your terrorists @aoc @ilhan @RashidaTlaib because I don’t feel safe in MY country from them. Or do white people not count?

With all due respect, we’re far beyond dog whistles — Trump’s comments today, on the White House lawn, was a blowhorn. The House must do more than pass another tooth-less resolution. The people of our district are itching for protection from this racist – we need impeachment.

if it weren’t for the “race card” you leftist wouldn’t have a damn thing to say, and America is sick of it! The President is not singling out any specific color, just specific stupidity which the “squad” is rife with. they hat America, and are just here to try to tear it down.

I’m a Black male who voted for @realDonaldTrump.@BennieGThompson, when these women call the President out his name, why don’t you speak up then. You’re just like like them birds of the same feather. He said nothing wrong. By the way, I’m from Mississippi.
