Homan tells what ‘broke’ him, the moment he wanted to start ‘beating’ one Dem in House hearing

Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan revealed that he was near to “beating” a Democratic congressman who leveled disparaging accusations against him during a House panel hearing.

The Fox News contributor appeared on “Fox & Friends” Monday where he was asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade if he had calmed down yet since the contentious House Oversight Committee hearing last week focused on Trump administration policies related to the crisis on the southern U.S. border.

“Tom, have you calmed down yet from that hearing?” Kilmeade asked as co-host Steve Doocy recalled the “storm clouds” that had gathered as Democrats repeatedly portrayed immigration officials as monsters.

“I did until you just showed that clip of someone calling me a racist us. And said I didn’t care about dying children,” Homan recalled, referring to one particularly explosive exchange between himself and Democrat Rep. Jesús García who personally insulted Homan as a racist.

“That’s when I broke. That’s when I — if you notice, I hesitated a minute before I started yelling because I actually think about getting up and throwing that man a beating right there in the middle of the room because when you tell somebody that spent their career saving lives that I don’t care about dying children and I’m a racist. That’s where I broke and I had enough,” he said.

“Mr. Homan, I’m a father, do you have children?” Garcia had asked, questioning Homan on the  Trump administration’s child separation policy. “How can you possibly allow this to happen under your watch? Do you not care?”

“Is it because these children don’t look like children that are around you? I don’t get it,” he continued, “Have you ever held a deceased child in your arms?”

“First of all, your comments are disgusting — I’ve served my country 34 years!” Homan shot back before being interrupted by the Latino lawmaker.

“We’re a nation of laws. If you don’t like it, sir, change it. You’re the legislator — I’m the executive branch, and I’ve served my country honorably for 34 years,” Homan berated Garcia. “And I will not sit here and have anybody say that I don’t care about children because you’re not the same color as my children.”

He told the “Fox & Friends” hosts that Democrats just “didn’t want to hear it.”

“Look, this hearing wasn’t about transparency, because every time the Democratic lawmakers say something that wasn’t right, I try to interject to set the record straight. When the other witnesses are throwing out data completely false, I try to interject.,” Homan continued.

“They didn’t want to hear the truth. This was political theater. They wanted to push their narrative and not let me speak,” he added.

“So, like halfway during the hearing, I say no, enough. I’m going to interrupt, I’m going to interject and they can throw me out if they want,” he said.

“But they wanted, by the personal attacks on me and the men and women of the Border Patrol, they wanted me to get up and walk out. I wasn’t giving that to them,” Homan explained.” Halfway through the hearing I say, okay I’m not talking to them no more – I’m going to talk to the American people. Every response I give is going to go straight to the American people.”

Homan further noted that he and Border Patrol agents were berated by Democrats and then he was not allowed to respond to the attack.

“When he was done I wanted to respond. He wouldn’t allow me to respond. And he started yelling at me and telling me to shut up because he wanted to hear from an advocate sitting next to me to support his false narrative,” Homan explained.

‘You could cut the tension with a knife,” he added. “The people behind me behaved themselves in the whole hearing until I spoke. Then they started standing up with their signs. Even the audience did not want me to speak. This was nothing but political theater to push a narrative against this president and this administration men and women who are the heroes of ICE and Border Patrol.”

“They wanted a fight,” Homan declared, “and I gave them one.”
