Rep. Dan Crenshaw wants to get a few things straight about 9/11.
The Texas Republican and former Navy SEAL slammed the left’s “inexcusable accusations” against his patriotism and remarks that trivialize and politicize the 9/11 terror attacks during an appearance on “Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream” Wednesday.

Crenshaw called out New York Times contributing op-ed writer Wajahat Ali who accused him Tuesday of not supporting the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund. The freshman congressman blasted Ali’s implication that “patriotism is tied to legislation” as just “inexcusable.”
“That is a pretty inexcusable thing to say, you’re going to stand on the graves of 9/11 victims and claim that I am not a patriot and I have not defended this country against the perpetrators of 9/11, that I have not defended this country in order to prevent another 9/11 from happening. That’s a really inexcusable accusation from the get-go,” Crenshaw told Fox News host Shannon Bream.
Ali attempted to shame Crenshaw in a tweet linking to video of Jon Stewart torching members of Congress on Tuesday who didn’t show up during a House Judiciary Committee hearing focused on the re-authorization of funding for the Victim Compensation Fund.

“Anytime a Republican says they are ‘patriots’ ask them if they voted to fund the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund. You know who’s for it? Ilhan Omar,” Ali wrote in the tweet he eventually deleted, attempting to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar. “You know who hasn’t sponsored it? Dan Crenshaw. @DanCrenshawTX, I hope you do the right thing. If not, why aren’t you?”
But Crenshaw quickly called Ali out on his embarrassing fail.
“Hey ‘journalist,’ maybe you should check your facts. I am a co-sponsor. Nice try though,” he tweeted.
Also, “patriotism,” he added along with an image of an x-ray of his skull. Crenshaw lost his right eye in an IED blast while serving in Afghanistan.

The congressman told Bream on Wednesday that this “dishonest, cynical tactic” was first used by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
“They’re going to look at thousands of bills that are out there,” he said. “They’re going to find which ones have not been co-sponsored by certain members and then they’re going to claim that you don’t support it because you haven’t had the chance to co-sponsor it yet? That’s absurd.”
“They know it’s dishonest and we cannot get to this place in politics where you are seeking out something that somebody hasn’t cosponsored yet and then claiming they’re against it. They know that the public doesn’t quite understand that, that they think you’re voting against it,” he explained.
Ali’s non-apology after he was called out and deleted his tweet didn’t impress Crenshaw, who described it as “at best, a half apology with a snarky little snipe at me in the end.”
Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad you did and I have no problem correcting and updating the record with facts. Now try it with your comments about Ilhan Omar. You’ll feel better. Sincerely, a fellow patriot. https://t.co/6bAsYBpxsY

“Defending the indefensible comments by Ilhan Omar regarding 9/11 — which is where all of this materialized, Crenshaw said. “It’s actually really sad because they have succeeded in politicizing 9/11, they’ve succeeded in politicizing this bill for the victim compensation fund and frankly it’s shameful, it’s absolutely shameful.”
