Rep. Jerry Nadler is reportedly “okay” after appearing ill and near passing out during a press conference for Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee appeared to slump in his chair soon after he had made some remarks at the event the New York City Mayor held in Manhattan on Friday.
“He is okay. Seems to have been dehydrated and it was very warm in the room. He is now responsive and receiving a check-up,” a spokesman for the Democrat said in a statement, according to NBC News New York.
Nadler was seated beside de Blasio in the press conference which was held at P.S. 199 in the Upper West Side of Manhattan to discuss expanding speed enforcement cameras in school zones. At one point, he appeared quite pale and slumped in his chair.
De Blasio could be seen offering him some water and telling him that he looked a little dehydrated. NYC ABC reporter Dave Evans said ‘Code Blue’ sounded over the intercom.

According to NBC News New York:
When de Blasio asks Nadler if he was OK, Nadler can be heard responding with a faint “no” before putting his hand over his face.
Moments later he seemed to recover. He was speaking and appeared alert, telling people near him that he was OK.
Nadler was reportedly given an orange to eat and some water while de Blasio cleared the school gym. Video reportedly showed Nadler being taken to an ambulance on a stretcher with the mayor by his side. Though his spokesman said the 71-year-old had not fainted, many local reporters shared the news on social media, indicating that he seemed to have passed out briefly.

The good thing is there are some doctors in the room and he appears to be in okay spirits: pic.twitter.com/bpgPoRUO3R

Reactions to the reports came in on social media with some noting that the congressman was not looking so great during an appearance last night with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Others thought it was stress brought on from his fight to “do what’s right for America,” and naturally blamed President Trump.
oh no. He looked exhausted last night on @maddow

The extent of stress @realDonaldTrump is giving everyone is enough to send us all to ER. I’ve had to shut off everything Trump last week due to extreme headache it caused me. My son hate seeing his face or hear his name on TV, social media. We have to stop his mess by impeachment

Others agreed that it was probably stress, but believe Nadler is under pressure for a different reason.
