Joy Behar slammed the Republican Party for standing behind “an unbelievable corrupt president” and suggested they should all be “thrown in jail.”
The co-host of ABC’s “The View” condemned the GOP Tuesday for backing Trump’s “corrupt administration” during a discussion on impeaching the president amid refusals by Trump officials to comply with congressional subpoenas.
Host Whoopi Goldberg asked if former White House Counsel Don McGahn is himself obstructing justice by refusing to comply with a subpoena.
“I think he’s in contempt of the subpoena and I think that there will certainly be repercussions. I think he can be fined and hauled into jail for it,” co-host Sunny Hostin replied.
Behar added Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham to the list she was compiling of administration officials refusing to cooperate.
“You know what I was thinking? Nixon would be — he would say I was in the wrong period of history because he would have gotten away with everything just like this corrupt president is getting away with,” Behar said. “This is an unbelievably corrupt president, corrupt administration, and the Republican Party is right behind him and they all should be thrown into jail as far as I’m concerned.”
“Lock ‘em up!” she exclaimed as the audience cheered.
“If you look at Nixon’s article of impeachment, the third article really refers to Nixon stonewalling. It refers to the fact that he refused subpoenas,” Hostin interjected. “He refused to comply with subpoenas for documents, for testimony and it’s the exact same behavior that we’re seeing from this administration. I want to know why are the Democrats not even thinking any longer about impeachment. It doesn’t make sense to me.”
House Democratic leaders reportedly clashed over the subject of impeaching Trump, meeting on Monday to press the issue which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to table for now so Democrats can focus on issues that affect everyday Americans.

According to Politico:
Reps. David Cicilline of Rhode Island, Jamie Raskin of Maryland and Joe Neguse of Colorado — all members of Democratic leadership — pushed to begin impeachment proceedings during a leadership meeting in Pelosi’s office, said the sources. Pelosi and Reps. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico, Hakeem Jeffries of New York and Cheri Bustos of Illinois — some of her key allies — rejected their calls, saying Democrats’ message is being drowned out by the fight over possibly impeaching Trump.
“This is not about politics, it’s about what’s best for the American people,” Pelosi reportedly said, according to a member attending the meeting.
Meghan McCain offered a rebuttal to “The View” discussion and Behar’s call for jail time for Republicans.
“If you’re going to say that all Republicans should be in jail, all of them, that —” she began as Behar interjected, “Every one of them.”
“You should say Pelosi as well because she’s not forcing impeachment either,” McCain suggested with her co-host stating, “not yet.”
“But if all Republicans should go to jail for not doing impeachment, Democrats should be held to the same standard as well,” McCain argued.
“They should go to jail for not impeaching him?” Behar asked, seeming confused to have her own remarks come back at her as she went on to cite how Democrats are in favor of impeachment. McCain continued to press her co-host on the comment about jailing Republicans, forcing Behar to finally retort, “Well that was what we call hyperbole.”
“It doesn’t sound that way to the Republican at the table for what it’s worth,” McCain shot back. “It sounds a little aggressive.”
