Alive from NY! ‘Unplanned’ film’s Abby Johnson amplifies her baby’s heartbeat with 4D in packed Times Square

With momentum on their side, the pro-life movement took their cause, the cause of life, to New York City’s Times Square.

And what an attention getter it was.

Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life activist whose story is featured in the hit movie “Unplanned,” amplified her unborn baby’s heartbeat for all to hear as she underwent a 4D ultrasound Saturday in Times Square.

“The most beautiful sound – the sound of life!!!” read a tweet from the pro-life group, March for Life, that included a clip of the dramatic moment, to include when a crowd of thousands broke out in applause at the sound.

The hashtag, #AliveFromNewYork, lifted from the famous “Saturday Night Live” lead-in, “Live from New York!”

A very pregnant Johnson appeared on stage after the procedure.

“This is a baby! It’s not a cat or a parasite,” she said while patting her stomach. “It is a human being with a heartbeat. With its own DNA, that’s separate from my body. And this baby deserves to live.”

And to be clear what the end goal is, Johnson added: “We will see a day when abortion in this country is unthinkable.”

A longer clip of the remarkable moment is seen below — the voice heard coming from where the ultrasound was being administered.

Focus on the Family, a conservative Christian group, organized the event titled, “Alive From New York,” in response to Democrats in the state legislature passing a late-term abortion bill that allows the killing of a baby up to the point of birth in some cases.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio lit up the World Trade Center in pink to celebrate the highly controversial legislation.

“Our hope is that people walking into Times Square on Saturday will look up to the screens and lift-up in prayer every abortion-minded woman,” Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family, told Fox News.

“They say a picture is worth a thousand words,” he added. “Well, the picture of a baby is actually of inestimable worth. It’s a snapshot of the future and a million possibilities yet to come.”

The choice of venue was no accident, as explained by March for Life President Jeanne Mancini.

“We wanted to make a statement. Gov. Cuomo has said something along the lines of pro-lifers aren’t welcome in New York,” Mancini said. “Well, here we are in Times Square and life should be welcomed wherever we are, and from what we’ve heard pro-life New Yorkers are really appalled by this legislation and they want to protect the dignity of the unborn and make their voices heard.”

The effort drew the focus of Vice President Mike Pence, as seen in a tweet promoting the event.

“As Democrat Governors in NY & VA advocate for late-term abortion & even infanticide – & Democrats in Congress refuse to allow a vote on the Born-Alive bill – TODAY in Times Square an ultrasound will be shown for all to see, demonstrating the miracle of life,” Pence tweeted beforehand.

One thing is certain, the planned theatrics was highly popular with the pro-life crowd, as seen in the responses below from Twitter:
