Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under fire again, but this time for what she has not said following the Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka.
The New York Democratic congresswoman is being criticized for her apparent social media blackout on the tragic attack which left 359 people dead, including American citizens, after suicide bombers blew themselves up at three Christian churches and three hotels on Sunday.

Ocasio-Cortez has made no public comments on her Twitter account though she was quick to turn there following the Christchurch mosque shootings in New Zealand last month. That attack by a single gunman left 50 Muslims dead, prompting several comments in tweets by Ocasio-Cortez who politicized the tragedy by attacking President Trump and renewing a call for tougher gun control measures in the U.S.
“What good are your thoughts & prayers when they don’t even keep the pews safe?” she asked in one tweet.
At 1st I thought of saying, “Imagine being told your house of faith isn’t safe anymore.”
But I couldn’t say “imagine.”

“Daily reminder that we have a **Muslim Ban** in this country made out of the President’s hostility to Muslim people w/ little-to-no supporting evidence, and a Republican Party that tolerates it. There is so much work to do. Repealing the Ban is square 1,” she also wrote in another tweet.

But the democratic socialist has been noticeably silent following the multiple bombings in Sri Lanka on a holy day as churches were filled with Christians celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack while the government has confirmed that Islamic fundamentalists were responsible for the attacks.
In many responses to the attacks, the left avoided any mention of Christians, opting instead to use the term “Easter worshippers” in what seemed like a coordinated message. Former President Barack Obama and failed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton were slammed after their social media responses avoided naming Christians as the victims, with Obama calling it an “attack on humanity.”
The Washington Post even invited an online backlash after publishing an article claiming the attacks on Christians in Sri Lanka fueled “far-right anger in the West.”
But still, there has been silence from the otherwise outspoken Ocasio-Cortez on the subject. And many were calling out the 29-year-old lawmaker for her double standard.
