House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer tucked tail and ran after his attempt to face reality in the wake of Robert Mueller’s report earned him a boatload of hate from the anti-Trump Resistance.
The Maryland Democrat appeared to backtrack and reverse his earlier remarks after being torched for even suggesting that impeachment of President Donald Trump is not a “worthwhile” option.
House Majority @LeaderHoyer just told me : “Based on what we have seen to date, going forward on impeachment is not worthwhile at this point. Very frankly, there is an election in 18 months and the American people will make a judgement,”

“Based on what we have seen to date, going forward on impeachment is not worthwhile at this point,” Hoyer reportedly said, according to CNN’s Dana Bash.
Collusion or not, the left is bent on pinning something on Trump, and a top Democrat saying dropping the impeachment push did not fit their narrative, regardless of the findings of Robert Mueller’s report that cleared the president on alleged collusion between his campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.
Hoyer was pummeled on social media.
Instead we get Hoyer’s nonsense and a raft of statements that ignore the abundant collusion documented in the report. Because they’re scared the truth might lead them to impeachment. It’s pathetic. It lets the country down. And it reinforces Trump’s sense of his own impunity.

I think @StenyHoyer we are going to need a better explanation than that. If you want us to fight, we need to see you do it first
— Nancy Lee Grahn (@NancyLeeGrahn) April 18, 2019
what if the American people want you to impeach? what’s the bat signal for that?
How many calls to your office do we need to make? https://t.co/2vSDtwMOMD

They’d be able to make a better “judgement” in 18 months if Hoyer and co grew a backbone and held impeachment hearings… https://t.co/4ybuP4cTld
— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) April 18, 2019
This is unbelievably disappointing. Even if you don’t ultimately pursue impeachment proceedings, why on Earth would you say this today?
Part of the American people making a judgment in 2020 requires a full account of the President’s criminality and abuse of power. https://t.co/DB634jA2Fq

This is infuriating.
Time to start calling your Representatives.
Impeachment hearings must be called or we as a nation will have an outlaw Presidency. https://t.co/Jwvia99fIj

The criticism apparently hit its mark because the Democrat seemed to walk back his comments in the wake of the thrashing he got from left-wing activists. Hoyer tweeted Thursday that Congress must obtain the “full” Mueller Report to “determine what actions may be necessary.”
Congress must have the full report & all underlying evidence in order to determine what actions may be necessary to ensure that the Congress & the American people have all the info they need to know the truth & all options ought to remain on the table to achieve that objective.
— Steny Hoyer (@LeaderHoyer) April 19, 2019
Perhaps Hoyer was spurred on also by his left-wing primary challenger who openly called him a coward and declared that she was “in favor” of impeaching Trump.
“Hoyer continues to show that he lacks the courage to stand up to the status quo. It’s times like this that we ask, “who’s side is he on?” @LeaderHoyer, if you stand for nothing, what’ll you fall for?” Mckayla Wilkes tweeted.

In favor.

@LeaderHoyer reminded us that an election is to come in 18 months implying that WE are responsible for stopping Trump. Time should not be the factor. Does honor, ethics and the rule of law mean nothing? Our republic is in grave danger under Trumps corrupt leadership! #Period

The left happily promoted her primary campaign against Hoyer.

Remember when @AOC started running last year and no one thought she could be Joe Crowley, and not only did he start acting progressive, she eventually destroyed him on Election Day?
