President Donald Trump’s visit to Minnesota is being targeted with a protest by the Muslim advocacy group CAIR on Monday.

The Council on American–Islamic Relations will be holding a rally in support of Rep. Ilhan Omar to coincide with the president’s business roundtable in Burnsville where he will discuss tax cuts and the U.S. economy, the Star Tribune reported.

The Muslim rights group called for supporters to “Stand with Ilhan” in a Facebook post detailing the rally.

“As 45 visits MN on Monday, we will collectively host a peaceful rally outside Nuss Truck and Equipment in Burnsville starting at 11:30am,” the post read, claiming Trump had “attacked Congresswoman Ilhan Omar by inciting violence towards her, her family and community.”

The Minnesota Democrat’s supporters slammed the president after he posted a video last week in response to her comments at a CAIR meeting in California last month referring to the 9/11 terror attack on the United States as “some people did something.”

Trump’s tweet, declaring “WE WILL NEVER FORGET!” has been viewed over 10 million times and sparked hysteria from the left accusing the president of inciting violence against the freshman congresswoman who dismissed the terrorist attack that claimed nearly 3,000 American lives.

Omar’s Muslim colleague in the House, Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, defended comments by her “sister” who was “uplifting people by supporting their civil liberties and civil rights,” and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi demanded Trump take down his video post.

The president’s trip to Minnesota on Monday is the first official White House visit to Omar’s state. He is scheduled for a visit to the Nuss Truck & Equipment company “to tout the success of the American economy under his pro-growth policies, including the implementation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” according to a White House news release, the Star Tribune reported.

The president may be laying the groundwork for 2020 with his visit to the state which he lost to Hillary Clinton by only 1.5 points in 2016.

“The President is going to be using the state as a backdrop to deliver his messages that are going to be claiming credit for a strong economy and trying to portray the Democrats as too far left using [Rep.] Ilhan Omar,” University of Minnesota political studies professor, Larry Jacobs, told the KMSP-TV.

“It helps him charge up the base of the Republican Party and he’s also going to be using it to try to portray the Democratic party as too far left, socialist and out of touch,” Jacobs added.

Twitter users reacted to Trump’s impending visit and the planned rally by CAIR.
