Newsweek’s already challenging week just got worse as Donald Trump Jr. ripped into the “POS” publication for its misleading tweet about him and Candace Owens.
Referring to a congressional hearing on hate crimes and white nationalism, Newsweek seemed to be suggesting that the eldest son of President Donald Trump and Owens, the communications director of Turning Point USA, were Hitler apologists.
“Donald Trump Jr. praises Candace Owens for her defense of Hitler comments,” Newsweek’s tweet on Wednesday declared.

Trump Jr. blasted the magazine in response.
“Hey guys, just here for the Ratio you lying POS!!!” he tweeted.

Owens also reacted, suggesting the president to “open up the libel laws” and that it’s “time to make moves against these people.”
The President needs to open up the libel laws. I’m getting sick of this. Time to make moves against these people.

Trump Jr. had earlier tweeted a video of Owens before the House Judiciary Committee, praising the conservative because she “articulates perfectly” the failed strategies of the Democrats.

Owens roasted Democratic California Rep. Ted Lieu during the hearing after he attempted to smear her as defending Hitler by playing a portion of a clip out of context.
“I think it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Lieu believes that black people are stupid and will not pursue the full clip in its entirety,” she shot back, noting that an additional two hours of context was conveniently omitted in the clip played before the panel.
“Wow. Well done @RealCandaceO!!!” Trump Jr. tweeted in response. “Great to see someone call out the Dems on their purposeful manipulation of facts for their narrative. Since the media runs with anything they say and is the marketing wing of the DNC they aren’t used to getting called out for the repeated BS.”

And for Newsweek, that was enough to claim Trump Jr. “praises” Owens “for her defense of Hitler comments.”
Newsweek had already been under fire this week for its cover choice.

The publication was slammed for featuring Rep. Ilhan Omar, tweeting about how she is “changing the conversation” about Israel.
Trump Jr. also called Newsweek out for “buying followers to pretend you’re still relevant.”
Hey @Newsweek since you want to lie about me for clickbait, your advertisers may want to know how is it possible to average single digit RTs with 3.3m followers? You guys buying followers to pretend you’re still relevant?
See what happens below. It’s nice to have real followers! pic.twitter.com/U1FAYNtiYk

He challenged the publication’s Twitter page with nearly 3.3 million followers and the low number of retweets and likes Newsweek receives on its posts.
Trump Jr. sparked quite a reaction to Newsweek on Twitter with his comments.
Readers Digest gets more clicks than Newsweek.

That’s what happens when you buy followers instead of having real ones!

You deserve this ratio, you lying cretins.

Just a reminder @Newsweek was sold for $1 and that seems like an overpay right about now.
