Dems’ worn, old smear tactic: Pelosi says Barr was ‘appointed to make sure the president’s above the law’

Last year Democrats and their media allies launched a smear campaign against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to prevent his confirmation to the high court. That campaign failed.

Roughly six months later the left appears to be attempting to perform the same feat again, albeit with a different target: Attorney General Bill Barr. Why? To force him to publicly release special counsel Robert Mueller’s full report on Russian collusion and obstruction of justice.

Never mind that some of the information contained in the special counsel’s report may be classified or subject to certain federal stipulations that prevent their disclosure.

As Barr explained in the letter he submitted to Congress on Sunday, he’s currently working with Mueller to determine what’s safe for public release and what must remain redacted.

But the left doesn’t care about any of this. It’s politically advantageous for them to both cry foul over the delayed release of the report and likewise smear Barr as a political crony.

Case in point: “Right now, the message should be clearly, let us see this report,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi bellowed during a presser Tuesday. “I have great respect for Special Counsel Mueller, but let us see the report. We don’t need an interpretation by the attorney general, who is appointed for a particular job, to make sure the president is above the law. We need to see the report.”

Listen to some of that statement below:

The implication seemed to be that Barr’s not up for the job of upholding the law.

She’s not the only Democrat who appears to feel this way:

Both Democrats like House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff and members of the media have taken to falsely accusing Barr of rushing to judgment.

Two days after Mueller concluded his investigation, the AG released a letter announcing that the special counsel had exonerated President Donald Trump on allegations of collusion but not rendered a judgment on obstruction of justice, choosing instead to punt the issue to the DOJ.

He added that, after reviewing the evidence, he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein decided that the evidence doesn’t warrant obstruction of justice charges against the president.

“In making this determination, we noted that the Special Counsel recognized that ‘the evidence does not establish that the President was involved in an underlying crime related to Russian election interference,’ and that, while not determinative, the absence of such evidence bears upon the President’s intent with respect to obstruction,” he wrote.

Note that both he and Rosenstein reached this decision. Note also that according to actual journalism by Fox News, the AG and deputy AG had been reviewing the evidence since the start of March. Yet Democrats and their media allies continue to trot out the 48 hours lie.

Note for instance what Pramila Jayapal said Tuesday in the House:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

“Even though the special counsel and his team took 22 months to investigate potential obstruction of justice, Attorney General Bar took less than 48 hours to determine that there was nothing in the report that allowed him to move towards any sort of prosecution,” she said.

The media have been touting the same lie.

“Barr made his assessment in less than 48 hours, concluding that no such crime had been committed, because the president’s (all too public) attempts at a cover-up did not, in the end, conceal an underlying crime,” a “politics feature” published Monday by Rolling Stone reads.

Monday was the same day that Fox News confirmed that Barr and Rosenstein had been reviewing Mueller’s evidence for nearly a month before they reached their joint decision.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Rolling Stone hadn’t issued a correction. Nor had any of other media outlets — not to mention all the Democrats — who’ve trotted out the 48 hours lie.

If anything, the left appears to be doubling down on its smear campaign, much like it doubled, tripled and quadruple down last year on its campaign against since-confirmed Justice Kavanaugh.

Look, and take note of the blue check marks:

Smear, smear, smear …

They say that to err is to be human. True enough. But by the same token, perhaps it could be argued that to smear is to be a liberal Democrat. *shrugs*
