MSNBC host Joy Reid already accusing Bill Barr of a cover-up after embarrassing Mueller result

Hours after Mueller handed off his long-awaited report to AG Bill Barr, and well before a summary of the report was expected, controversial MSNBC host Joy Reid offered: “It feels like the seeds of a cover-up are here.”

Those who have proclaimed the “end of journalism” have another head-shaking example here. Zero evidence, completely speculative plot-line fabrication … the creative writers stewing in the steaming leftist cauldron of hooey are not about to give in to the “Trump is vindicated” twist anytime soon.

Reid asked if there is “any reason to have any confidence in William Barr here.” She pointed out that the Attorney General pledged as much transparency as possible and declared, “I remain cynical.”

Reid’s panel guest Above the Law (pre-judge much?) editor Elie Mystal sided with Reid saying, “Is Trump’s flunky going to release a report that might be damaging to his sugar daddy? I don’t think so.

“I don’t even know why we think that Barr isn’t the one who stopped the investigation. This is a 22-month-long investigation,” Mystal continued. “Barr’s been on the scene for a month, and now we’re done? That doesn’t strike anybody as odd? No, I have absolutely no confidence that Bill Barr will do anything other than what is in the best interest of Donald Trump.”

On balance, panelist Nick Ackerman and former Watergate prosecutor indicated he was encouraged so far and urged that all we can do at this point is wait and see. “So far so good,” he said. “The letter says all the right things, and he’s really adhered to the letter of the regulations, which is good.”

Reid made it clear where she stands: “The fact that this investigation takes place within the Justice Department, which Donald Trump essentially controls, and that he got rid of the problem, Jeff Sessions, who––the one decent thing that he did was just recuse himself. This guy is not recused. It feels like the seeds of a cover-up are here.”

S.E. Cupp Urges Self Control

On the other hand, pundit S.E. Cupp of CNN criticized Reid and others who are making accusations or speculating about things without evidence. After all, the findings of the Mueller probe are not yet known.

“Even when we find out, I would urge, everyone take a breath,” Cupp said.

“I saw Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, on TV last night saying, he still thinks members of the Trump family are going to be indicted. I guess because he wants them to be … Why speculate and tip your hand that this is where you hope it will go?”

She continued: “I saw Joy Reid a host on MSNBC … already accusing Bill Barr of a cover-up. I just don’t think that’s necessary. I don’t think it’s a good idea for either side to wipe their hands and say it’s over. It’s not over. And it’s probably not going to be as good or bad as either side is suggesting it will be.”
