It seems the rift between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell has not quite mended as the former co-host of “The View” slammed her ABC talk show colleague for remarks she said were “reckless, untrue,” and “disturbing.”
Hasselbeck, a former “Fox & Friends” co-host, slammed O’Donnell during an appearance on “The View” on Tuesday.

In the upcoming book, “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View” by Ramin Setoodeh, the 57-year-old O’Donnell admitted she had “a little crush” on Hasselbeck when the two worked together on “The View.”
“Not that I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to support, raise, elevate her, like she was the freshman star shortstop and I was the captain of the team,” O’Donnell was quoted as saying, insisting there was nothing sexual in her comments about the former softball player.
She also claimed there were “underlying lesbian tones on both [of their] parts”
“There are not many, in my life, girls with such athletic talent on sports teams that are traditionally male that aren’t at least a little bit gay,” O’Donnell said.
Hasselbeck, who was asked to respond to the comments, took a deep breath before she answered.
“That’s the breath of the Holy Spirit,” she said. “Like, please Holy Spirit, work through me right now so I don’t answer of my own mind.”
“I think what she said was reckless, untrue, and not only insulting, disturbing when it comes to how she felt about somebody in the workplace,” she elaborated, adding that “if you replace what Rosie said” with a man’s comments, then “we would be in a situation where you would see the objectification of a woman in the workplace.”
“That’s disturbing because where we may be really against that when it comes from a man to a woman,” she continued. “You don’t get a pass because you’re a lesbian objectifying a woman in the workplace. You just don’t.”
“She didn’t say anything about the way you looked or anything, she just said she had a crush on you,” co-host Joy Behar interjected.
“There were words in her statement that said she had intentionally tried to groom me and take me under her wing,” Hasselbeck countered, adding that “the feeling was not mutual.”
But she did admit she has “respect” for her former co-host and is able to forgive her for their contentious on-air battle of words and especially O’Donnell’s recent remarks about how she felt.
“I feel like I have the grace of forgiveness. I forgive Rosie. I absolutely forgive her because I was disturbed by what she said, and I was offended by it,” she said. “She has my forgiveness full heart. And I really pray that she can really have the peace that she deserves.”
Hasselbeck was also asked about O’Donnell’s remarks during a “Fox & Friends” interview to promote her new book, “Point of View: A Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom.”
She reiterated her comments and admitted she “immediately started praying” after she read O’Donnell’s words. She also told the “Fox & Friends” co-hosts that she was disturbed by O’Donnell’s softball remarks,
“I think her casting a stereotype on female athletes and what she said … that all female athletes are a little bit gay … I would say this directly to her, and I would say, ‘That’s an unfair stereotype and it seems selfish in a way and I think that it’s untrue,'” she said.
“I can handle that with the grace of God because I need grace and I need forgiveness,” she said.
“So Rosie, I think it was disturbing to read those things and it was offensive to me, but I forgive her. I totally forgive you, Rosie,” Hasselbeck said, noting that she had tried to call her former colleague but had an outdated phone number.
“I really hope that we can be at peace and that we can both hold our beliefs in one hand and hold each other’s hand in the other and still have a relationship that’s at peace,” she said.
