Roseanne BarrĀ appeared onstage Saturday at the Laugh Factory inĀ Las Vegas with fellow comedian Andrew Dice Clay, no stranger to controversy himself, having been permanently banned from MTV.
The appearance was Barr’s firstĀ live performance since ABCĀ canceled the reboot ofĀ “Roseanne” last May, according toĀ Fox News.
Barr was introduced by Clay as a special guest, receiving a standing ovation from the majority of the room.
“Iāve got a special treat for everybody,” the comedian told the crowd. “A close friend of mine, I’d say about 33 years. There haven’t been many asĀ controversial, as outspoken or as fākin’ funny. Let’s hear it for Roseanne Barr!”
It’s coming up on one year since Barr joked in a tweet that Obama royalty member Valerie Jarrett was the result of a marriage between the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes.”
She would later apologize for the “bad joke,” and said on Twitter that she didn’t know the light-skinned former Obama aide was African-American.
But ABC canceled her show anyway, replacing it with “The Connors,” a spin-off that included the rest of the show’s cast — Barr’s character was killed off in the spin-off.
The Roseanne reboot was a smash hit, drawing 18 million viewersĀ on the night of the its return. She even got a congratulatory call from President Trump, which likely had much to do with the overreaction to her tweet about Jarrett.
Clay took to Instagram to tout Barr’s return, posting a photo of the two of them, along with the caption:
“She Hadnāt Been On Stage Since She Got Fired From ABC , And last Night Made So Many People Laugh … And They Loved Her! We are The Comedians Of This Crumbling World , But We are Human and Sometimes Screw Up , or Things Taken The Wrong way !!! Our Job Tho , is To Keep you Laughing Amongst The KAOS Of a World going Through Pain !!! She was Nervous and Afraid last Night , But Once the Audience Laughed … She was Right Backvin The Groove and Crushed !!! So Proud Of Her … Love You Roseann”
Barr, who reportedly has a stand-up tour set for May and was likely getting a feel for being back on the stage, thanked ClayĀ for “telling the truth,” which she said “is illegal nowadays.”
The two comedians even did a dance routine.
