Sen. Elizabeth Warren understands why her party won’t allow the “propaganda machine” Fox News to air a presidential primary debate.
The Massachusetts Democrat and 2020 presidential candidate was supportive of the decision by the Democratic National Committee to bar Fox News from hosting a primary debate, telling MSNBC’s Ari Melber it’s not surprising given the network “operating as an arm” of President Trump’s administration.
“I do understand that when more and more keeps coming out about how Fox News was just operating as an arm of the Trump campaign and then the Trump administration, boy, that doesn’t much look like we really have a free and independent press,” Warren said on MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber,” Friday.
“It just looks like a propaganda machine,” she said.
Tom Perez, chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced the decision this week, pointing to “the inappropriate relationship between President [Donald] Trump, his administration and Fox News,” citing a story in The New Yorker alleging close ties between the president and several Fox News hosts.
“Recent reporting in the New Yorker…has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates,” Perez said. “Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”
Trump shot back at the DNC and threatened to do the same with the “Fake News Networks.” Fox News Channel responded with a request to reconsider.
“They’re the best debate team in the business and they offer candidates an important opportunity to make their case to the largest TV news audience in America, which includes many persuadable voters,” Fox News senior vice president and Managing Editor Bill Sammon said in a statement.
Fox News anchor Bret Baier called the DNC’s decision “a shame,” touting the network’s large audience in a tweet, while CNN’s Brian Stelter came to the defense of the DNC decision with a stunning spin on why the choice was right.

Warren told MSNBC that it’s “ultimately a decision for the party to make,” but was supportive of the ban.
“So I understand why it is that the Democratic Party would just say, ‘we’re just not going to be a part of that,’ ” Warren said, never noting the obvious partisan political agenda of the mainstream media.
The Democrat senator has appeared on Fox News herself, speaking with Baier on “Special Report” in January. And according to Fox News anchor Chris Wallace, Warren has agreed to appear on his “Fox News Sunday” program, The New York Times reported.
Twitter users weighed in on Warren’s take on the DNC decision, noting the irony lost on the 2020 hopeful as she spoke about “propaganda” at Fox News while a guest on liberal MSNBC.
Wow!!! Come from one of the biggest frauds in politics. Classic
