‘Jaw-dropping hypocrisy’: CNN’s Stelter gets reality-checked when he accuses Fox of ‘dehumanizing’ Democrats

CNN’s Brian Stelter came to the defense of the DNC decision not to let Fox News Channel hold the party’s presidential primary debates.

But the “Reliable Sources” host should have used a mirror before his stunning spin on why the choice was right.

Tom Perez, chair of the Democratic National Committee, announced the decision Wednesday, pointing to “the inappropriate relationship between President [Donald] Trump, his administration and Fox News.”

“Recent reporting in the New Yorker…has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates,” Perez said. “Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”

Stelter agreed with Perez’s decision and blamed the primetime hosts on Fox News for creating the problem for the network, though he did point to “journalists like Bret Baier who do a good job.”

“But every night in prime time, Democrats are dehumanized. They are attacked relentlessly by Fox News prime time hosts,” Stelter said on “CNN Right Now” Wednesday.

“It was always hard for me to imagine a Democratic primary debate taking place in those hours — when figures like [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Rep.] Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez  are constantly demonized and attacked,” he added, apparently oblivious to his ridiculous lack of self-awareness.

Fox News Channel had responded to the DNC decision with a request to reconsider.

We hope the DNC will reconsider its decision to bar Chris Wallace, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, all of whom embody the ultimate journalistic integrity and professionalism, from moderating a Democratic presidential debate,” Fox News Senior Vice President Bill Sammon said in a statement. “They’re the best debate team in the business and they offer candidates an important opportunity to make their case to the largest TV news audience in America, which includes many persuadable voters.”

Baier reacted to the news in a tweet on Wednesday, as the president also slammed the DNC and threatened to do the same with the “Fake News Networks.”

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Stelter delivered his assessment with a straight face on Wednesday despite his own network’s biased attacks on Trump and other conservatives. Twitter users slammed the CNN host for his ignorant take on the DNC decision.
