U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slapped back at the New York Post after a report exposing the “hypocrisy” of her “gas-guzzling car rides.”

The New York Democrat “wants to save the planet with her Green New Deal, but she keeps tripping over her own giant carbon footprint,” the publication noted in a report published over the weekend detailing her use of emissions-spewing transportation.

The freshman lawmaker fired back at the New York Post in an acerbic tweet on Sunday, noting the article and sarcastically slamming the newspaper.

“Pack it up folks, the Pulitzer’s been decided. No one can rival this kind of hard-hitting journalism,” she wrote.

Her tweet was not the first response to the story, however, as she had linked to the report a day earlier arguing that  her use of airlines and air conditioning do not negate her argument in favor of the Green New Deal with its goal of “building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy.”

The Post detailed the self-proclaimed democratic-socialist’s transportation use during her congressional campaign and since defeating Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in her district, which includes parts of Queens and The Bronx, noting that “the woman who boasts of a ‘razor-sharp BS detector’ seems to have trouble sniffing out her own.”

Despite her Queens headquarters being a one-minute walk to the subway station, Ocasio-Cortez spent $29,365.70 for car uses since declaring her candidacy in May 2017, the Post reported, noting that according to federal filings, there were 1,049 transactions for car services such as Uber, Lyft and Juno. The campaign had 505 Uber expenses just for Uber.

“We’re like, ‘The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,’ ” Ocasio-Cortez declared in January. “And, like, this is the war; this is our World War II.”

Last month, she continued her warning call, arguing that there was “basically a scientific consensus that the lives of our children are going to be very difficult” due to climate change. “And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: is it OK to still have children?”

But, according to The Post’s report, during her campaign season, the progressive congresswoman logged 66 airline transactions at a cost of $25,174.54 and 26 car-service transactions – in one day, Oct. 12, 2018.

In a separate report on Sunday, the New York Post noted that the freshman lawmaker is “addicted to Uber,” reporting that she left a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Queens – where she was “treated like a liberal savior” – in a “for-hire minivan.”

The Post reported:

The leading advocate for the proposed “Green New Deal” was less than four blocks from a Queens subway station when she hopped into a white Chrysler Town & Country with livery plates at around 1:20 p.m.

The 2016 model of the since-discontinued vehicle gets an average of just 17 mpg in the city, according to the US Department of Energy.

Ocasio-Cortez fired back again at the New York newspaper, tweeting that the minivan belongs to her aunt.

The former president of Greenpeace Canada slammed Ocasio-Cortez as a “a garden-variety hypocrite” in a tweet reacting to the piece in the New York Post.

Moore, who left Greenpeace which he said  has been “hijacked by eco-fascists,’ ripped Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal resolution and called her out as a “pompous little twit” in a series of tweets over the weekend.
