Greg Gutfeld tears into Juan Williams, threatens to ‘throw him off set’ for saying he’s ‘in the bunker for Trump’

To some viewers who tuned into Fox News’ “The Five” Wednesday evening, it almost seemed as if co-hosts Juan Williams and Greg Gutfeld were constantly on the verge of a fist fight. Why? Because of left-wing co-host Williams’ continual accusations that his fellow co-hosts are pro-Trump hacks.

The first altercation occurred during a discussion halfway through the program about the sketchy testimony President Donald Trump’s disgraced former attorney Michael Cohen had delivered to Congress earlier that morning and afternoon.

After co-host Dana Perino finished arguing that some of what Cohen had said to the House Oversight Committee was beneficial to Trump vis-à-vis unproven allegations that he violated campaign finance laws during the election three years ago, Williams promptly jumped in with his own commentary.

This spurred Gutfeld into asking, “What about Morgan? Morgan has not spoken.”

He meant Morgan Ortagus, a national security analyst who was supposed to be a guest commentator on “The Five” Wednesday, but who apparently hadn’t been allowed to speak yet.

“Gosh, are you guys ever going to let me finish?!” Williams whined, as if he doesn’t have a history of hogging the microphone and — worse — smearing his co-hosts.

“No, because you’re always finishing!” Gutfeld rightly replied. “There’s somebody sitting there who hasn’t said a damn word!”

“You are so deep in the bunker, and you … spew, spew, spew,” Williams fired back, suggesting that his peer is a pro-Trump hack who was trying to prevent him from criticizing the president.

“Oh, shut up, Juan! I’m in nobody’s bunker. Enough with your bunker. I’m trying to be polite to somebody on the panel, Juan, which you won’t do!” Gutfeld roared in anger.

Which he rarely does, actually …

The second altercation occurred after co-host Jesse Watters argued that Cohen had nothing on the president, the suggestion being that his testimony was just a horse and pony show.

“That’s pretty ridiculous, but again, you’re so blind because you, like Greg, are deep in the bunker,” Williams replied, again resorting to the “bunker” insult.

This enraged Gutfeld: “You know, if you say that again, I’m going to throw you off the set!”

Why such fury?  Because he believed that the “bunker” remark was meant to be a surreptitious reference to deceased Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler — a man whom liberals like Williams have a history of comparing both the president and his supporters to.

“You know what the bunker means?” he continued. “What you’re intimating is that — who’s in the bunker? Adolf Hitler, correct? That’s what you’re saying. …. You choose the worst intent of people’s words. Like when I say that I believe something, I’m in the bunker. What if I said that about you? I never say that about you.”

“No I was not. You are so far off,” Williams replied before the segment concluded.

The confrontation was so tense some viewers speculated that the two were about to duke it out in a physical brawl and even placed veritable bets on who’d win.

Though just to be clear, the two have never fought physically and likely never would. Despite their on-air confrontations, the two remain close friends thanks to their willingness and ability to let political bygones be political bygones once the camera stops filming.

Case in point:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

This is how all relationships should work: You duke it out verbally over disagreements from time to time, but you never allow these disagreements to mar your friendship.

But because of Trump Derangement Syndrome (or Trump Anxiety Disorder, as it’s formally called) run amok, friendships between Democrats and Republicans rarely last anymore.

In fact, a poll conducted after the 2016 election found that Democrats were three times more likely than Republicans to unfriend someone over political disagreements.

“The study shows Democrats were almost three times more likely than Republicans (24% vs. 9%) to have unfriended someone after the election,” Fortune magazine reported at the time.

“A similar disparity turned up for self-identified liberals versus conservatives (28% vs. 8%). Meanwhile, only 9% of independents reportedly booted someone out of their online social circles because of politics.”

Fortunately for those viewers of “The Five” who like both Williams and Gutfeld, the chances that they’ll ever “unfriend” each other are practically nonexistent. Of course, that doesn’t mean they won’t verbally spar and accuse each other of being this, that and the other, as Wednesday’s events demonstrated.
