Hell has officially frozen over, as leftist comedian Jon Stewart praised President Trump’s Department of Justice for the “excellent job” they’ve done taking care of 9/11 first responders and their families.
Stewart, a vocal advocate for first responders, made the unexpectedly glowing remarks at a press conference where a bipartisan group of lawmakers unveiled a plan to ensure that first responders and survivors who were injured by the toxins at Ground Zero receive their full compensation.
Stewart: Trump DOJ Is Getting the Job Done
The announcement came just weeks after a funding shortfall would have slashed payments to 9/11 survivors who got sick after being exposed to chemicals stemming from the Islamist terrorist attacks.
“I’m going to say this now and I hope — are the cameras on? Is everybody on me?
The Trump Justice Department is doing an excellent job administrating this program. The claims are coming through faster, and the awards are coming through.
The program works exactly like it’s supposed. So now it’s Congress’ job to fund it properly and let these people live in peace. Thank you.”
Stewart reaffirmed his unwavering support for 9/11 first responders and their survivors:
“I’m not going to stop, and ultimately we’re going to get to a point where the light shines and shame is brought, and then this will happen. So how about we make a deal?
This is your opportunity to write a final chapter for these men and women who fought for 18 years. They fought when nobody believed they were sick. They fought when nobody believed that their sickness was caused by 9/11.
They fought when nobody thought their health care was worth paying for. They fought every step of the way.”
Stewart in 2016: Stop Trashing Trump Supporters
While Jon Stewart has often bashed Donald Trump, he’s one of the few Hollywood leftists who has tried to be fair.
In November 2016, Stewart slammed liberals for trashing all Trump supporters as racist:
“I thought Donald Trump disqualified himself at numerous points. But there is now this idea that anyone who voted for him has to be defined by the worst of his rhetoric.
In the liberal community, you hate this idea of creating people as a monolith. ‘Don’t look at Muslims as a monolith. They are individuals and it would be ignorance.’ But everybody who voted for Trump is a monolith – is a racist. That hypocrisy is also real in our country.”
