‘Can I just finish?’ ‘The View’ erupts when Meghan McCain takes Dems to the doghouse over ‘Born Alive’ bill

Discussion of Democrats blocking a new bill protecting babies sparked a fiery debate on “The View” as Meghan McCain slammed the party’s platform of “infanticide.”

McCain slammed Democrats for voting against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, calling it out on Tuesday’s “The View” as “just how extreme the left has gone” in blocking the legislation aimed at protecting an infant born alive after a failed abortion.

“Every single Democrat except three of them, voted for this yesterday,” McCain said, referring to the bill sponsored by Nebraska GOP Sen. Ben Sasse. “That means that these Democrats don’t believe a baby born after a botched abortion should receive medical care.”

Senate Democrats, including Democratic 2020 presidential candidates, voted on Monday to block the bill in what President Trump slammed as “the most shocking votes in the history of Congress.”

“This is an example, when we’re talking people having children, and just how extreme the left has gone,” McCain told her co-hosts.

“If Democrats want to win an election going forward, are you going to be the party of late-term abortion? The party of infanticide? Is this the platform you’re going to have?” she asked, thanking the few audience members who clapped after her telling remarks.

Co-host Sunny Hostin attempted to “push back” on McCain’s comments, though she acknowledged she is pro-life like her co-host.

“You think baby born after a botched abortion should be —” McCain began as Hostin attempted to speak. “It’s disgusting. It’s infanticide.”

“The bill was to provide medical care for infants who survived failed abortions,” Hostin interjected before McCain shot back, “Those babies should be left to die?”

Co-host Joy Behar wondered, “Is she going to be able to tell her side?”

Hostin attempted again to make her counterpoint, pointing to what she saw as controversial components of the bill, such as imposing “legal and criminal penalties on doctors who won’t comply” with some of the provisions.

“That doctor should be punished,” McCain said, adding “Keep saying it Democrats!”

“Can I just finish?” Hostin shot back.

But Behar ended the heated segment while her co-hosts continued to debate.

In an interview with Fox News after the vote, Sasse declared it a “sad day in the United States Senate.”

“This is about the most simple thing you can say, which is that a baby is a baby, and they have dignity and worth,” he said.

Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine, who touts his Catholic pro-life beliefs, dodged a constituent’s question on his stand on the bill before the vote while making it clear he would not support any efforts to weaken Roe v. Wade.

Kaine’s remarks came as the abortion debate heated up in light of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s comments, his state’s attempt to pass a controversial abortion bill and the shocking celebration in New York’s state legislature when that state approved the killing of unborn babies until the moment of birth. The Vermont House gave women the right to have elective abortions up until birth last week, further eroding the rights of the unborn.
