Judge rules male-only draft unconstitutional. Ladies between 18-25, you can thank a feminist.

Thanks in part to feminism, American women may soon be required to register for the draft.

On Friday a federal judge ruled that the United States’ 102-year-old Select Service System, which decrees that all males between the age of 18 and 25 must be registered for the draft, is discriminatory and unconstitutional.

In his 19-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Gray Miller stated that “while historical restrictions on women in the military may have justified past discrimination, men and women are now similarly situated for purposes of a draft or registration for a draft.”

They’re “similarly situated” because of, one, third-wave feminists who’ve fought tooth and nail to push the government into allowing women to serve in any and all military roles, and two, Democrat politicians who’ve chosen to cater to these activists’ demands.

Democrat politicians like former President Barack Hussein Obama, whose administration removed the military’s ban on women serving in combat six years ago. The elimination of the ban was soon followed by a reduction in training standards.

That same year the National Coalition of Men filed suit against the Obama administration claiming the male-only draft is discriminatory and unconstitutional. Though the case was promptly dismissed months later, the Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit later reversed that decision.

Now fast-forward to Friday, when Judge Miller argued that since men and women are practically the exact same these days — and not just according to the military — it’s wholly discriminatory to only force men to sign up for the draft.

“[T]he relevant question is not what proportion of women are physically eligible for combat. It may well be that only a small percentage of women meets the physical standards for combat positions,” he ruled.

“However, if a similarly small percentage of men is combat-eligible, then men and women are similarly situated for the purposes of the draft, and the discrimination is unjustified.”

“If there ever was a time to discuss ‘the place of women in the Armed Services,’ that time has passed,” the judge concluded.

Congratulations, feminists!

What remains unclear is how the federal government intends to respond. While it’s reportedly filed an appeal, it’s expected to lose, meaning there are only two remaining options, according to the coalition’s attorney, Marc Angelucci: It must scrap the draft or start requiring women to sign up.

“They could do either of those, but I don’t think they’ll get rid of the draft because the Pentagon is arguing strongly to keep the draft,” he said to PJ Media.

True, which means the most likely scenario is that women between the age of 18 and 25 will soon have to sign up for the draft.

“We take the position that if women are in combat then they should have to register for the draft. There’s no more excuse to discriminate against men because women are in combat,” Angelucci added.

In other words, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

According to the National Coalition of Men, it launched the suit in 2013 because of the severe penalties that men who refuse to register for the draft face.

“Forcing only males to register is an aspect of socially institutionalized male disposability and helps reinforce the stereotypes that support discrimination against men in other areas such as child custody, divorce, criminal sentencing, paternity fraud, education, public benefits, domestic violence services, due process rights, genital autonomy, and more,” the association said in a statement.

Angelucci agreed, saying, “Even without a draft, men still face prison, fines, and denial of federal loans for not registering or for not updating the government of their whereabouts.”

The response to Judge Miller’s ruling has been mixed. Some have taken to mocking feminists, since the very feminists who cry about equality all day, everyday may soon be required to register for the draft:

Feminists — including male feminists and their trans equivalents — meanwhile have taken to now demanding that the draft be abolished:

But according to this non-feminist who “proudly served” in the military, perhaps feminists should shut up and just do their part to defend this country like she once did:
