Sen. Lindsey Graham shot down the narrative by a CBS anchor that the border wall will prevent children in Kentucky from getting a new school.
The South Carolina Republican was asked Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” about President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency on the southern U.S. border, and its effects on Kentucky schoolchildren awaiting funds for a new building.
“The president just declared a national emergency with regard to getting the funds for his border wall,” CBS host Margaret Brennan said.
“In terms of getting those funds through this emergency action, there’s about $3.6 billion of it. That could come from military construction efforts including construction of a middle school in Kentucky, housing for military families, improvements for bases like Camp Pendleton and Hanscom Air Force base,” the anchor continued.
“Aren’t you concerned that some of these projects that were part of legislation that you helped approve in Congress are now going to possibly be cut out?” Brennan asked Graham.
“Well, the president will have to make a decision where to get the money,” the GOP lawmaker and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman replied.
“Let’s just say for a moment that he took some money out of the military construction budget,” Graham posited. “I would say it’s better for the middle school kids in Kentucky to have a secure border. We’ll get them the school they need, but right now we’ve got a national emergency on our hands.”
In no time, the left was all over Graham’s remarks, declaring that the senator believes it a border wall is more important for kids than building schools.

Lindsey Graham says military children need a wall more than they need a middle school. When you believe & enable white nationalism, you can convince yourself of almost anything.

Hi @LindseyGrahamSC,
I watched you try and say with a straight face today, that kids in schools need a wall.
I can see in your eyes that you don’t believe that; that you know you’ve completely sold your soul and are now beholden to a man you once abhorred.
Quite a legacy…

With only $1.4 billion for the wall construction included in the spending bill which passed last week, Trump’s plan to deliver the rest of the funding includes $600 million from the forfeiture funds account of the Treasury Department, $2.5 billion from a Defense Department program on drug prevention and $3.6 billion from military construction funds.
And while Trump’s critics predictably denounced the plan and the attempt to use military construction accounts, as some slammed the one-sided characterization of Graham’s remarks, others called out the left’s fear-mongering and liberal rhetoric.
Protecting the states from invasion is literally an enumerated ppwer of the Federal government, education isnt even mentioned. That should be a local county obligation.

the wall does help with the opioid epidemic-by slowing down the flow of them into the USA.

The left continued to spin the false narrative that the “manufactured crisis” on the border is not a true emergency as Trump has repeatedly stated. Fox News host Chris Wallace, a frequent critic of the president, got a hard lesson in reality when conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh trounced his dismissal of the border crisis.

“We have an emergency. This is an invasion. The very existence and definition of American culture, American society, the rule of law” Limbaugh said
“Why does nobody talk about the fact that millions and millions and millions of people are breaking the law coming here illegally and that the Democratic Party wants that to happen? We can’t have the breakdown of rule of law, and law and order this way,” he added. “That alone would suggest that this has gone on way too long and we need to stop it.”
