Liberals who jumped to defend Jussie Smollett are now eating crow asĀ a new report indicates that the “Empire” actor’s case may be headedĀ before a grand jury.
Actress Alyssa Milano won’t even refer to Smollett by name as she is apparently so ticked off by the possibility that he staged last month’s incident in which he claimed he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that a grand jury will hear the actor’s case early next week, though there were no details about what the charges are or who is facing them. Smollett claimed he was assaulted in Chicago on Jan. 29 by two men shouting “this is MAGA country” while pouring a liquid on him, and hurling racist and homophobic slurs against him.
ButĀ new evidenceĀ led police to believe Smollett hired actors to stage the fake attack after arresting and questioningĀ brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who were released without charges but provided evidence police saidĀ shifted the ātrajectory of the investigation.ā
TMZ reported that the men, who worked as extras on Smollettās TV series āEmpire,ā are “staying somewhere around the Loop in downtown Chicago under the watchful eye of police so no one gets to them.”
“We’re told cops especially want to make sure Jussie does not contact the brothers,” the outlet reported.
Magazines with missing pages that police found when they raided the brothersā homes were being investigated for any connection to a threatening letter that was sent to Smollett about a week before the alleged attack. Smollett refused to press charges against the men after reportedly finding out who they were, saying he felt bad for them,Ā sources told TMZ.
According to TMZ:
The sources say there were red flags from the get-go. Cops were extremely suspicious when Jussie took them out to the area where he said he was attacked and pointed to an obscure camera saying how happy he was that the attack was on video. Turns out the camera was pointing in the wrong direction. Cops thought it was weird he knew the location of that camera.
And, there’s this. We’re told investigators didn’t believe the 2 alleged attackers screamed, “This is MAGA country,” because, “Not a single Trump supporter watches ‘Empire.'”
Many liberals bought into Smollett’s narrative when first reported, rushing to condemn right-wing conservatives, anti-LGBTQ critics and even President Trump, for the alleged hate crime. Prominent Democrats and 2020 presidential candidates added their knee-jerk commentary, taking to Twitter to support Smollett and even push an anti-lynching bill, as Sen. Cory Booker did.

Milano also reacted to Smollett’s “trauma” in the hours following the alleged attack.
Iāve been trying to figure out all day what to say about the racist, homophobic, violence against @JussieSmollett.
Not sure I can describe what Iām feeling in a neat & tidy tweet. His trauma deserves more.
Iām sad. Living together on the planet shouldnāt be this difficult.

But after the evidence of a staged attack mounted in the last few days, the left-wing activist, who recently comparedĀ MAGA hats to KKK hoods, sputtered her disbelief on Twitter Sunday.
If that man staged his own attack he is wrong in so many ways.
No one could be that hurtful? To stage this? Right?
To fuck with all of us by playing into our weaknesses & make it even harder for victims to come forward?! No one could choose to be that hurtful? Right?! RIGHT?

Though not exactly an apology for her former defense of the actor, Milano’s tweet may be one of many forthcoming admissions by other liberal celebrities and the like. But probably not best to hold your breath.
