From FNC:

— FOX News Channel (FNC) has signed former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy (R) as a contributor, the network announced today. In this role, he will offer political and legal analysis across both FNC and FOX Business Network’s (FBN) daytime and primetime programming.

Prior to joining FNC, Rep. Gowdy represented South Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District beginning in 2010 and after four terms in Congress, he announced that he would not seek re-election in 2018. Rep. Gowdy served as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and was a member of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees. In addition, he served on the Education and Workforce Committee, the Ethics Committee and was chair of the House Select Committee on the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya. During his time in Congress, Rep. Gowdy played a significant role in the congressional investigation of then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the terrorist attacks in Benghazi.

Prior to launching his political career, Congressman Gowdy worked as a federal prosecutor, assigned to a wide range of federal crime cases, including murder and narcotics trafficking. He successfully prosecuted J. Mark Allen, one of “America’s Most Wanted” suspects, granting him the Postal Inspector’s Award. In this capacity, he received the highest performance rating that a prosecutor ever receives. In 2000, Rep. Gowdy exited the U.S. Attorney’s office and pursued a career as the Seventh Circuit Solicitor. While in this position, he started several new initiatives including a Violence Against Women Task Force and the Drug Mother Protocol, established to help expectant mothers with addiction.

In addition to his role at FNC, Rep. Gowdy practices law as a member of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. He joined the firm’s White Collar Defense and Government Investigations team, where he focuses on internal and government investigations and corporate compliance. Gowdy attended Baylor University and received his degree in law from the University of South Carolina.
