Trump lashes out at Fox News panel: Never thought I’d say this, but … worse than fake news CNN or NBC

fox news sunday

President Trump lashed out at “Fox News Sunday” after Trump critic Gillian Turner suggested that his base will turn on him and that world leaders have less respect for him because he caved on the border wall.

Fox News’ Chief White House correspondent John Roberts, filled in for Chris Wallace to host the weekly talk show. Also on the panel was liberal commentator Juan Williams, who slammed Trump over the shutdown.

“I think he knows that his base that has been so loyal, [but] this is one issue where they could crumble,” Turner said.

After the segment, Trump tweeted: “Never thought I’d say this, but I think John Roberts and Gillian Turner at Fox News have even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN and NBC! Look to final results! Don’t know how my poll numbers are so good, especially up 19% with Hispanics?”

Gillian Turner: Trump ‘Fell On His Sword’ Over Wall

Trump was responding to Gillian Turner’s comments that he “fell on his sword on the wall issue” and that his base could leave him.

Turner is not a Trump supporter and frequently criticizes him ― proving that unlike CNN, Fox News hosts are not monolithic in their political viewpoints.

While Fox News employs many full-time Trump-haters, CNN only has Trump supporters on as contributors.

Turner said world leaders are re-examining their assessment of President Trump because of the win that Nancy Pelosi got on the border wall last week.

Turner pointed out that Democrats now control the House of Representatives, ensuring that Trump’s agenda will be obstructed even more than it was during his first two years in office:

“I think that is a calculation foreign leaders across the globe ― from the Middle East and Latin America ― are making this week. They’re looking at this and they’re saying, ‘You know what? It turns out that the Democrats winning the House in the midterms actually did matter for the president’s foreign policy agenda.

The president fell on his sword on the wall issue. He sort of had to. But it’s had some real-world consequences in terms of the U.S. foreign policy around the world.

Hispanic Support for Trump Soared During Shutdown

As BizPac Review reported, Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics rocketed 19 points during the shutdown.

Republican strategist Gus Portela, who’s Puerto Rican, says this is because Hispanics recognize that President Trump is helping their community. Hispanic unemployment rates are at a record low under Trump.

Interestingly, Portela says Trump’s approval rating among Latinos would crater if he did not build a border wall. This contradicts the media narrative that all Hispanics consider Trump’s wall “racist.”
