A decision by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission just sent gun grabbers into a meltdown.
Teachers unions and liberal activists were already fired up last month when the 15-member commission in Florida voted in favor of arming teachers, but their unanimous decision to forward the recommendations to the state government further fueled the backlash, according to the Boston Globe.
The Stoneman Douglas Commission, established to study the mass shooting at the Parkland high school on Feb. 14, 2017 that left 17 dead, sent the 446-page report to Governor Rick Scott and incoming Governor Ron DeSantis after approving its findings Wednesday.
Included in the report that was critical of the Broward County Sheriff’s Department was the controversial recommendation to allow trained teachers to arm themselves.
According to the Boston Globe:
State law should be changed to allow teachers who pass an intense training program and background check to carry concealed weapons on campus, the report says. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the panel’s chairman, argued last month for the change, saying teachers are often the ones who have the best chance to stop a school shooting quickly. Under a law passed after the shooting, districts can elect to arm nonclassroom employees such as principals, other administrators, custodians, and librarians who undergo training. The only teachers allowed to arm themselves are current or former police officers, active military members, or Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps instructors.
The Commission’s recommendations would provide an opportunity for more highly-trained teachers to be able to arm themselves, thus helping to prevent school shootings. But the left was ready to attack and comments from National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch were just the signal they needed to pounce.
Loesch tweeted a link to a Sun Sentinel story about Wednesday’s Commission meeting and later appeared on Fox News to discuss the panel’s findings.

Loesch also joined MacCallum on “The Story” Thursday.
As soon as Loesch was slammed for being on to “talk about using the Parkland shooting to push to arm teachers,” liberals on Twitter went into overdrive, attacking her based on tweets while not even watching the segment for facts.
But the fact that the commission would agree with much of what Loesch and other Second Amendment advocates have been saying all along, is also enough to make heads explode.

But, as usual, the knee-jerk reactions were not based on what Loesch actually said during the interview.
You failed to mention Ms Loesch was commenting on what the Parkland School Shooting Panel recommended. The panel is recommending teachers be armed. And the gates & doors were already suppose to be locked & monitored. Try to be honest please.

Andrew Pollack, the father of Parkland victim Meadow Pollack, slammed the mainstream media and its obsessive focus on arming teachers while ignoring the other merits of the Commission’s report.
There are so many great recommendations in this report and the only thing MSM will focus on is arming teachers.
