CNN pundit Chris Cuomo got flummoxed while debating White House counselor Kellyanne Conway over the “hush money” President Trump allegedly paid to several women he had one-night stands with many years ago.
Cuomo claimed Trump was at the meeting between his former lawyer Michael Cohen and National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, where the two allegedly discussed paying extortion money to porn stars Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal in order to keep their affairs with Trump a secret.
Cuomo claimed this was illegal (Um…no, it’s not).
“Donald Trump not only knew about the plan for payments, he was at the meeting that hatched the plan,” Cuomo claimed. “Who says? Reportedly his friend who ran the Enquirer, David Pecker, who was also at the meeting. This brings up once again that haunting question: Why lie if you had nothing to hide?”
Conway, an attorney, said Cuomo is stating allegations as if they were facts, and that’s not his job as a “journalist.”
She then pointed out that Cohen pled guilty to something that’s not a crime. Basically, the consensus among legal experts is that Michael Cohen threw himself and President Trump under the bus in a desperate bid to avoid jail time.
Unfortunately, Cohen’s sell-out was unsuccessful, since he was sentenced to three years in jail.
Kellyanne argued — like other lawyers have — that a famous, wealthy man paying his mistress to not go public about their affair in order to protect his wife and his reputation is not illegal.
As BizPac Review reported, there are rumors that Michael Cohen had paid David Pecker a fee to buy the rights to a National Enquirer story that former Playboy model Karen McDougal leaked about her alleged 2006 affair with Donald Trump.
American Media reportedly paid McDougal $150,000 in August 2016 for the exclusive rights to her story.
Michael Cohen discussed buying the rights to the story from American Media to keep it out of the news in the run-up to the November 2016 presidential election.
This is known in the media industry as a “catch and kill” fee, where a tabloid purchases the exclusive rights to a story but doesn’t publish it. This practice is legal and is common among celebrities, who sometimes buy the rights to a potentially embarrassing story in order to keep it out of the headlines.
Kellyanne told Chris Cuomo that Michael Cohen’s credibility is in tatters because of his now well-documented history of tax evasion and grifting using his association with Donald Trump to make fistfuls of dirty cash.
Kellyanne also pointed out that while Cohen may have broken the law, President Trump never directed him to break the law — and there’s ZERO proof that he did. Conway also said Trump relied on the legal advice of his lawyer, as clients usually do.
“The president of the United States said he has never directed Michael Cohen to break the law,” Conway said. “He hired counsel and he believes the advice of his counsel because professionals are paid to do what they’re being asked to do.”
Kellyanne then said Cuomo should be a lot more professional to her instead of rudely talking over her since she’s the only one in the Trump administration who will do an interview with CNN, given its long history of lying about Trump and his aides.

“Your viewers accept — if not expect — you and the rest of CNN to be anti-Trump all day long, and you know it,” Kellyanne said. “You don’t have the same viewership that CNN once had because people want [the news] right down the middle.”
Cuomo bristled: “You spin a lot, and you ignore what is obvious fact.”
Kellyanne clapped back: “Are you going to call me a liar?”
Cuomo retorted: “If I have to I will.”

Kellyanne and Cuomo then jabbed back and forth for 39 minutes, during which Conway delivered the knockout blow: “Where’s the Russia collusion?”
