Trump roasts Sen. Richard Blumenthal as ‘Da Nang Dick’ for lying about Vietnam War service

President Trump blasted Richard Blumenthal after the Democrat Senator called Trump an “unindicted co-conspirator” while discussing the sentencing memo of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen — which, by the way, made no reference to Russian collusion.

Trump fired back by hilariously dragging Blumenthal over his fake claims that he had served in the Vietnam War.

“Watched Da Nang Dick Blumenthal on television spewing facts almost as accurate as his bravery in Vietnam (which he never saw),” Trump tweeted.

In February 2017, President Trump mocked Richard Blumenthal about his lies after Blumenthal repeatedly called Brett Kavanaugh a liar during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

As BizPac Review reported, Justice Kavanaugh was viciously smeared with sham, 11th hour sexual misconduct accusations. Democrats like Blumenthal jumped on the anti-Kavanaugh bandwagon in an effort to derail his Supreme Court confirmation.

Blumenthal served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve during the Vietnam War, but never left the country, and never served in combat. In 2008, Blumenthal falsely claimed he had fought in Vietnam while speaking to veterans.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam. And you exemplify it.

Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

Numerous media outlets spread the fake news that Blumenthal was a brave war veteran. He never corrected the record until 2010, when the New York Times revealed that he had obtained more than five military deferments from 1965 to 1970:

“In 1970, with his last deferment in jeopardy, he landed a coveted spot in the Marine Reserve, which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam.

He joined a unit in Washington that conducted drills and other exercises and focused on local projects, like fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive.”

Unable to continue his hollow charade, Blumenthal finally apologized shortly after being outed by the media: “On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service, and I regret that.”

President Trump also deferred military service, but he never claimed he was a combat veteran.
