Trump fires back hard at Rex Tillerson: Among other things, calls him ‘dumb as a rock’ and ‘lazy as hell’

President Trump torched fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as a lazy buffoon who’s “dumb as a rock” after the former ExxonMobil CEO slammed him at a hospital fundraiser.

“Mike Pompeo is doing a great job, I am very proud of him,” Trump tweeted. “His predecessor, Rex Tillerson, didn’t have the mental capacity needed. He was dumb as a rock and I couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. He was lazy as hell. Now it is a whole new ballgame, great spirit at State!”

Trump was reacting to passive-aggressive statements Tillerson made this week during his first public appearance since his May 2018 firing. Tillerson told CBS News veteran Bob Schieffer (video above):

“So often the president would say, ‘Here’s what I want to do and here’s how I want to do it,'” Tillerson recounted, as reported by Chron. “And I would say to him, ‘Mr. President, I understand what you want to do, but you can’t do it that way. It violates the law.'”

Tillerson claimed President Trump would get frustrated after those discussions:

“I’d say here’s what we can do, ‘We can go back to Congress and get this law changed. And if that’s what you want to do, there’s nothing wrong with that.’ I told him I’m ready to go up there and fight the fight, if that’s what you want to do.”

Tillerson also slammed Americans by suggesting they’re stupid. After lobbing the insults, Tillerson then passive-aggressively claimed he’s not criticizing anyone.

“I will be honest with you, it troubles me that the American people seem to want to know so little about issues, that they are satisfied with a 128 characters.

I don’t want that to come across as a criticism of him … It’s really a concern that I have about us as Americans and us as a society and us as citizens.”

Tillerson also praised Russian president Vladimir Putin as a “very calculating” and “very opportunistic” leader who plays “three-dimensional chess.”

However, he said “there’s no question” that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, and that Putin’s goal is to undermine the United States.

You mean like when a former Secretary of State disses a sitting United States president who elevated him to that position?

Naturally, Trump fired back on Twitter. The president has repeatedly pointed out that he’s a “counterpuncher,” so if you attack him, he’ll jab back at you twice as hard.

Before Tillerson was fired, there were numerous reports that he had a strained relationship with his boss because he disagreed with Trump on policy issues.

That situation should never have festered, because if you disagree with your boss’ policies, you shouldn’t agree to work for him. That’s just dishonest and conniving.

What’s ironic about Tillerson’s disloyalty is that Trump supported him when the media viciously trashed Tillerson over his shady 42-year career with ExxonMobil (a.k.a. – Oil Spill King).

Trump had hoped that Tillerson would leverage his relationship with Putin to rein in Russia. That never happened.

In 2014, Tillerson opposed US sanctions against Russia after it invaded the Ukraine. Why? Because Tillerson — who was then ExxonMobil CEO — had engineered numerous lucrative business deals over the years with his pal, Russian president Vladimir Putin.

But now Tillerson thinks everyone should take his Russia commentary seriously? The irony of an oil executive thinking he has any moral authority to question someone else’s integrity makes you roll your eyes so hard they fall out of your head.
