YouPorn attempts ‘revenge’ on Starbucks after coffee chain finally blocks access

Starbucks was targeted with some retaliatory backlash by a pornography website after a decision affecting its stores.

The porn site reportedly aimed at getting revenge by announcing a ban on all Starbucks products from its offices beginning in the new year, according to the Washington Examiner.

That move was apparently triggered by Starbucks’ decision to block access to pornographic websites on all of its stores’ Wi-Fi hot spots effective as of 2019.

“To ensure the Third Place remains safe and welcoming to all, we have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores and we will begin introducing it to our US locations in 2019,” a Starbucks representative told Business Insider on Wednesday.

Following moves by companies like McDonald’s, Subway, and Chick-fil-A, which began to use filters to block pornography on store Wi-Fi in 2016, Starbucks announced it would do the same. But there was apparently no follow-through from the global coffee giant and an online petition – which has generated nearly 27,000 signatures – called out the company for breaking its promise.

“Apparently, Starbucks cares more about providing paper straws to protect the environment than protecting kids and patrons on its public WiFi! Starbucks broke its promise to filter pornography and child sex abuse images, despite its public announcement it would voluntarily provide safe WiFi in its restaurants nationwide … an announcement more than 2 and-a-half years ago!” the petition stated.

Starbucks announced it would finally make good on its promise, and apparently YouPorn took it personally. The highly trafficked free pornographic website, which was launched in 2006, issued its own announcement in response.

Twitter users found plenty of humor in the retaliation by YouPorn.
