Melania Trump is not going to let a bunch of Scrooges bring her down.
The first lady dismissed the brouhaha by critics over her latest White House Christmas decor, giving an invitation to all Americans to come to “the people’s house” in person to see the spectacular display.
Mrs. Trump was the target of despicable bashing by haters who despise anything to do with President Donald Trump and his family – including something as innocuous as Christmas decorations. The dazzling White House display was revealed on Monday to appropriate praise for the first lady’s efforts but also low-class attacks.
On Wednesday, the always-classy Mrs. Trump calmly responded to the criticism.
“It’s the 21st century and everybody has different tastes, I think they look fantastic,” she told Eric Bolling during an appearance at Liberty University for a town hall on opioid abuse.
The audience cheered and applauded her response as she laughed with Bolling and invited the room to come to the “People’s House” to see it for themselves.
“I hope everybody will come over and visit it,” she added to continued applause. “In real life, they look even more beautiful. You’re all very welcome to visit the White House.”

The disdain poured out over the decorations by liberals has been a sad reflection of their own inability to see past their hatred of the Trumps. But the reactions in print and online by the so-called objective media has been nothing short of embarrassing.
The Washington Post slammed the “spooky” trees and said they induced “flashbacks to phantasmal nightmares.” Slate wondered about the secret message behind “her red Christmas trees of death.” Other outlets like USA Today, Time, HuffPost, San Francisco Chronicle and Vice joined in the mockery.
But plenty of others came to the first lady’s defense, slamming the trolls and exposing the root of their childish tantrums over the decor which includes 14,000 ornaments, 12,000 bows, more than 20,000 feet of lights, wreaths made from pencils, a giant gingerbread house and, of course, those 40 red topiary trees.
The White House indicated that the red symbolized in the trees match the stripes found in the presidential seal and symbolize valor and bravery, not – as critics cried – the color of a handmaid’s cloak.
At Wednesday’s Liberty University town hall, Bolling asked the first lady if she ever gets “enough credit from the media.”
“They would like to portray different stories and focus on different, unimportant stuff really. And I’m here to shine the light on important stuff,” Mrs. Trump replied. As expected, her choice of Christmas decorations seemed to generate more attention than the opioid town hall.
Thank you @LibertyU! What a great crowd of smart and committed students. Together, I know we can make a real difference in the opioid crisis and save lives! pic.twitter.com/b49GdNgwJS

The first lady shared that she fully expected the unfair attacks on her once she began her “Be Best” campaign.
First lady Melania Trump says she knew that when she started her “Be Best” campaign she “will be criticized, but I will do what is right” so the “next generation can be respectful and kind, and also sometimes you need to fight back, I’m sorry” https://t.co/AfEIFrfeM5 pic.twitter.com/cbAC5sXSBu

“But I will do what is right for the next generation and to be focused on helping how to use it and how much to use it — the social media.” she said. “So next generation can be respectful and kind and also sometimes you need to fight back.”
On social media, supporters and Trump fans rallied behind the first lady, applauding her response to the haters and thanking her for the invitation to the White House.
I think @FLOTUS is a really excellent First Lady, the role of First Lady is to bring people together not get involved in divisive politics, she is really doing great and hasn’t put a foot wrong. Great job Melania !

Her heart is absolutely in the right place. The trees are a beautiful representation of both Christmas and the red, white and blue.

Our First Lady is being attacked bc she is married to President Trump! Since when are so many ppl “outraged” over Christmas trees in the White House that it totally dominates the news cycle? Talk about snowflakes! I think they are beautiful. Red & green always used at christmas

They look great. Red, white, and green are the colors of the season. Imagine the media fawning if Michelle Obama had put up the exact same trees. ? pic.twitter.com/PVsxijSBhJ
