Just when you thought the Florida election recount could not get any stranger.
Apparently a provisional ballot that was not counted in Duval County belonged to Omarosa Manigault Newman, President Trump’s former communications director for the Office of Public Liaison.
Newman, who married Jacksonville pastor John Newman, relocated to the Florida city but had reportedly not registered by the October 9 deadline, according to WFTV.
In the review of ballots that was underway Thursday in Duval County, which includes the city of Jacksonville, a member of the canvassing board was overheard mentioning the former reality star’s name.
“Omarosa Newman, registered late” the board member said before then moved onto the next ballot.
Heard inside the canvassing board room in Duval County as they review provisional ballots: “Omarosa Newman. Registered late.” — Yes, THAT Omarosa.
@TenikkaANJax reached out to her about it. Next at 6 @ActionNewsJax, how the former White House staffer reacted #Florida #recount— Lorena Inclán (@LorenaANjax) November 8, 2018
The former Trump White House official, who was fired by chief of staff John Kelly last December and then went on a tell-all book tour smearing her former boss, told WFTV that she had, in fact, registered to vote in time.
Omarosa’s provisional ballot was not counted because she registered late. However, we reached out to her and she claims to have registered on time. She now has an attorney looking into it.

I talked to @OMAROSA who says she’s fighting for her vote to count in Duval County #Florida. @ActionNewsJax was there as her provisional ballot was not counted due to late registration. Omarosa tells me she registered to vote on Oct 9 at DMV. She’s now working with local attorney pic.twitter.com/SmW5nqygDT

Newman noted the registration deadline in a tweet in October.

She even tweeted a note about how early voting was a “breeze” in Florida, an ironic comment in light of the chaos over alleged voter fraud in the state.

Tenikka Smith Hughes, anchor and reporter with WJAX-TV and WFOX-TV reported that Newman was working with an attorney to get an affidavit submitted before Thursday’s 5 p.m. deadline as she was currently out of the country.
I spoke to her. She was firm about the process she took to register by deadline and wanted to move quickly to do what she needed to do to get the issue resolved. She’s out of the country for a lecture – and is working with a local attorney on the matter

#Omarosa told me she went to clear up registration issue with her address in-person & showed proof that she registered by the deadline. She says she was given a provisional ballot and voted on Oct 30. She says she will fight for her vote to count. #Florida #Election2018 #ballot

.@OMAROSA says she is currently out of the country for a lecture in England, but tells @ActionNewsJax if not she would’ve gone to the office in-person to submit her own affidavit. Instead, worked with a Jacksonville attorney to get affidavit submitted before today’s 5pm deadline

Newman’s experience seems to only add to the circus that has emerged out of Florida’s elections with multiple GOP candidates being challenged in races with unbelievably close margins, including Gov. Rick Scott and Sen. Bill Nelson’s battle for the US Senate seat as well as Governor-elect Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum.
As recounts and provisional ballots are tallied and reviewed with elections supervisors in Palm Beach and Broward counties facing lawsuits and court orders, a meme mocking the Florida chaos summed things up quite well.

Twitter users weighed in on the latest with the Omarosa Manigault Newman episode.
Is it wrong to ask why everything this awful woman does becomes a news story?
Her vote is no more/no less important than anyone else’s & frankly, neither is she.

Anything to get back in front of the camera.

Ha Omarosa wouldn’t do this purposely would she? It’s not as if she craves attention or anything.
