‘Class act’ Crenshaw sets example with SNL response; not big on outrage-apology culture, so they can skip it

The difference between men like Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson and ex-Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw can be seen in how the latter responded to Davidson mocking him for losing an eye while serving in Afghanistan.

Crenshaw, a Republican running for Congress in Texas, lives by a different creed and when asked about the disrespectful incident that offended so many, the veteran said he does not think an apology is necessary.

“I want us to get away from this culture where we demand an apology every time someone misspeaks,” Crenshaw told TMZ.

“I think that would be very healthy for our nation to go in that direction,” he added. “We don’t need to be outwardly outraged. I don’t need to demand apologies from them. They can do whatever they want, you know. They are feeling the heat from around the country right now and that’s fine.”

Davidson mocked Crenshaw’s injury over the weekend, going so far as to shrug off the fact that it happened in war.

“You may be surprised to hear he’s a Congressional candidate from Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie,” Davidson said, giggling like a little school girl. “I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or… whatever.”

Not that Crenshaw didn’t condemn the “mean-spirited” joke to stand up for fellow vets.

“I would like him and Saturday Night Live to recognize something,” he said. “Which is that veterans across the country probably don’t feel as though their wounds they received in battle should be the subject of a bad punch line.”

The former SEAL said the “real atrocity” was that Davidson’s sad joke “wasn’t even funny.”

Crenshaw posted his defense of wounded veterans on Twitter as well.

Fox News contributor Sara Carter shared how families of injured veterans might feel when she tweeted about her husband being blinded in Afghanistan.

“What was even more gut wrenching was hearing the audience laughter after such a horrible joke…my husband was blinded in Afghanistan, almost gave his life – He and Dan Crenshaw put our nation first and they are my heroes. I will never watch SNL again. It made my stomach turn,” she tweeted.

One thing that we all can agree on is that Pete Davidson is one creepy *ss dude.

Another thing is that Crenshaw is a class act.

Oh, and the fact that soy boys like Davidson wouldn’t last very long in Crenshaw’s world.
