HS football player’s unbelievable own rendition of our national anthem goes viral: ‘I’m proud of my country’

A Maryland high school football player gave a stirring rendition of the national anthem that has since gone viral.

Jackson Dean, a high school football player from Gambrills, Maryland performed  “The Star-Spangled Banner” with just a guitar last weekend, impressing the crowd with his country version of the song.

The video of the Arundel High School defensive end ended in a spectacular finish with his teammates running through a spirit banner waving a giant American flag.

The video has been racking up thousands of views on social media which the high school senior thinks is “very awesome.”

Dean performed his rendition of the song again in an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Saturday.

“I’m an American, and I’m proud of my country,” he said, adding that he plans to hit the road and perform after graduation.

“We’ve got some things in the pocket that have been working that I can’t really talk about,” he teased.

Turns out, the song was not a one-shot by the young student, as he revealed that an album has been in the works.

“I’ve been flying back and forth to Nashville for a few years and putting a record together which will be coming out in December, and we put a single out on the radio that’s doing really well,” Dean told WJZ-TV.

“Learned to work at a very young age, so that has a lot to do with my music, I like to shed light on blue collar people that are my kind of people,” he added.

“He’s what we want our student-athletes to be like as far as behavior and character and all those good things,” his  head football coach, Jack Walsh said.

Dean, who has spent the last several years playing guitar and writing songs, will be graduating early in January  to pursue his musical dreams.

His patriotic performance continues to be praised by social media users.
