For the The Resistance, the ends justify the means when it comes to opposing President Donald Trump, even if it means disrespecting nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on 9/11, not to mention their families and loved ones.
On the 17th anniversary of that fateful day, Roll Call’s Capitol Ink ran an illustration by anti-Trump cartoonist Robert Matson, titled “Never Forget.”

Matson exploited what is a very somber day for millions of Americans to push a message of election meddling, depicting Russian planes headed toward two grey towers posing as ballot boxes.
With special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign ongoing, the connection to Trump was unmistakable with the artist establishing that Russia is a treat to the security of U.S. elections.
But then, politicizing the 9/11 terrorist attack seemed to be the order of the day for liberals, as seen in a cartoon from New Zealand Herald cartoonist Rod Emmerson.

The online reaction to the Matson drawing was very intense. Here’s a sampling from Twitter:

For those who witnessed 9/11 either in person or on tv that day, those images are burned into our minds. They should never be used as cartoon fodder, they are too painful, too sacred.
