Nike steps in it! Vets, ex-fans furious over Kaepernick deal: ‘I’m never buying another Nike product’

Nike is under fire from military veterans for using Colin Kaepernick in a new ad campaign. Many say the sports brand is promoting unpatriotic protests against the American flag since Kaepernick has been a Nike brand ambassador since 2011.

Army veteran Kurt Schlichter, an attorney and Townhall columnist, said Kaepernick’s claim that he’s “just making a statement” is disingenuous because there are more effective ways for him to protest without disrespecting the flag or the national anthem.

“In 27 years in the Army, I wore the American flag on my shoulder,” Schlichter told Fox News. “Over two deployments, I was there when the flag covered the coffins of men we were burying. This disingenuous idea that Colin Kaepernick is just trying to make a statement is baloney.”

Schlichter continued: “He is targeting us [patriots and military veterans]. He knows what this means to us. He knows how insulting it is. He knows how disrespectful it is, and Nike is empowering it. This is scummy, this is lousy! This is rotten and I’m never buying another Nike product again. And I think millions of Americans are going to agree.”

Democratic strategist Dave Brown supports Kaepernick, but failed to make a convincing argument for why the unemployed quarterback can’t protest on his own time instead of hijacking NFL games.

“I think what Colin is trying to do is illustrate in a very vivid and powerful way that some Americans feel left out of due process and equal protection under the law,” Brown said.

Gianno Caldwell, a Fox News analyst, dismissed the liberal argument that disrespecting the flag is pro-American.

“I respect Colin Kaepernick’s ability to protest, I just have a problem with doing it when it comes to our flag,” Caldwell said. “If he is really, really serious about it — and I’ve said this about other NFL players as well — take it beyond a protest. Go meet with members on Capitol Hill. These are very rich and influential people who can actually make a change in this country and bring about some real reforms.”

Caldwell said the flag protest is merely a cheap political stunt if Kaepernick does not take real action by meeting with lawmakers to affect change. Virtue-signaling on other people’s time is showboating, nothing more.

“You are not taking a real action outside of what I feel to be a dividing of the country by disrespecting the flag,” Caldwell said.

Kaepernick’s anti-American sentiments were confirmed after he donated $25,000 to a group that honors convicted cop killer and domestic terrorist Assata Shakur.

After being jailed for murdering New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster in 1973, Shakur broke out of prison and fled to communist Cuba, as BizPac Review previously reported

Retired Marine staff sergeant Johnny “Joey” Jones reacted by tweeting, “No sweat, Nike. I got you covered.”

As BizPac Review previously reported, Jones is a Purple Heart recipient who lost both his legs in a 2010 IED explosion in Afghanistan.

NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin, a former fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, loves the American flag so much that he planted it on the moon.

CRTV’s Jordan Schachtel said Kaepernick didn’t sacrifice anything by taking a knee. He was a mediocre quarterback who was elevated by the media to attack a symbol that millions of Americans hold dear.
