Media is telling the wrong story about police. So, these cops do something amazing to prove it

It’s popular these days to demonize the police, but this video shows a side of policing most people never get to see. Please share to help us get this story out widely. People need to see it.

At a time when cameras are always rolling and the media is always watching, a police officer’s decision to fire his gun does more than kill a suspect — it kills his relationship with the community he serves. But according to Code 3, a Virginia-based non-profit, it doesn’t have to.

Code 3 is an organization founded by police officers devoted to showing police as they actually are, not as they’re often depicted on TV, according to Executive Director Joe Abdalla. Founded in response to the 2015 Freddie Gray riots in Baltimore, Maryland, it seeks to facilitate police-community relations by urging good faith on the side of communities and good communication from police.

“When it comes to police shootings, I would like to see the community react with patience and understanding,” Abdalla told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “And I believe it’s the police department’s responsibility to get that videotape or that information out as quickly as possible.”

One of Code 3’s outreach programs, Project Hope, focuses on elementary schoolers in mostly minority communities, bringing police officers into classes to speak and socialize with kids who often have never had a positive interaction with police.

TheDCNF attended and documented the summer session of Project Hope above, taking place at Hutchison Elementary School in Herndon, Virginia.
