A Princeton University student and president of the campus Federalist Society, Akhil Rajasekar, said his school treats conservative students like idiots, on “Fox & Friends” Friday.
“Yes, I voted for [former Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton. I have central left views. I had it anyway. Until I was pushed to the right,” Rajasekar said.
“There’s this sort of liberal orthodoxy. I think that it’s sort of aggravated in elite campuses, just because like I say I call it the canonization of its own view,” he said. “And I think there’s this idea that if you’re not a liberal you’re an idiot so to speak. And that’s the general idea, right? It’s liberals or the intellectuals.”
Rajasekar said there aren’t many conservatives at Princeton but credited the administration with recruiting conservative professors, to help give a well-rounded view of all subjects.
“One of the things that I should say is Princeton has been generally really good at this — the administration is really good at promoting free speech and there’s a lot of dialogue,” he said.
“We have really good conservative professors … Top tenured professors. It’s really good,” he added. “I mean they do a really good job of encouraging that intellectual diversity. But the culture is still very much a liberal orthodoxy as you see it.”
