The MSNBC contributor who insulted deceased Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts this week received so much backlash on social media for her original remark — and the pitiful apology she posted later — that she wound up just deleting her Twitter profile altogether.
The drama surrounding Fordham University professor Christina Greer started Tuesday after she complained about Fox News’ alleged lack of coverage in regard to the plea deal reached earlier that afternoon between President Donald Trump’s former attorney and prosecutors.
“Fox News is talking about, you know, a girl in Iowa and not this, right?” Greer said that evening on MSNBC, where the “black ethnic politics” scholar frequently provides her “expertise.”
The backlash to this uncouth remark was brutal, with thousands of social media users ruthlessly (and justifiably, some would argue) blasting Greer for being “a piece of sh*t,” among other things.
Greer eventually responded by issuing a lackluster apology in which she tried to divert attention away from her remark and onto the broader discussion about illegal immigration.
“Yesterday I said something flippant that was unintended,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “Mollie Tibbets was a promising young woman who lost her life. My hope is that her family will find peace & justice and that her murder is not used to justify a discriminatory immigration policy.”
What kind of apology was that? According to social media users, it wasn’t an apology at all, especially in light of the fact that Greer misspelled Tibbetts’ last name.

The tweet by the Democrat Twitter user above nailed it. An apology should just be an apology, not an apology mixed with a political statement — an incorrect one, at that.
There’s nothing discriminatory about apprehending and deporting criminal aliens like Christian Bahena Rivera, 24, the illegal thug suspected of murdering Tibbetts. As a sovereign nation, the United States reserves the right to treat violators of its federal laws as criminals.
Moreover, conservatives are right to point out that Tibbetts would likely be alive today if it weren’t for the Democrat policies that promote rampant illegal immigration:
