NJ teacher helps man short on cash pay for snacks at Wawa. She had no idea it was mega-star Keith Urban.

A woman’s commitment to helping strangers paid off with a big surprise.

Three years ago, Ruth Reed made a resolution to help at least one person a week to buy food at her local Wawa convenience store in New Jersey.

Reed was prepared with extra money when she went to Wawa last Friday and spotted a man at the register who was short on cash. Reed, a former teacher who now works as a substitute, jumped at the chance to help when she noticed something familiar about the man.

Reed would recall the moment on Facebook and wrote:

“This man was short a few dollars, he asked a lady with him if she had money. I jumped in and said I would pay and explained why. He thanked me and asked my name. I was asked him his and he told me it was Keith.

I said he did look like Keith Urban.”

As it turned out, the millionaire country music star was in town and stopped at the store ahead of his concert in Camden, New Jersey.

When a disbelieving Reed asked who he was with, noting that wife Nicole Kidman wasn’t on his arm, Urban explained that he was with his sister.

Urban then asked Reed to confirm who he was with his bodyguard.

“It was then I realized what an idiot I was,” Reed wrote and called it another “Ruth Reed moment.”

Reed may have thought she had an “idiot” moment, but those who know her think she’s an angel for her good deeds:

CBS reporter Cleve Bryan caught up with Reed to ask her about her chance encounter. You can watch below:

Keith Urban also posted a video after the concert. It sounds like it went off without a hitch. Those snacks paid off!
