Former Hillary Clinton campaign aides are panicking on Twitter over Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan announcing that he will run for speaker of the House on Thursday.

“Jim Jordan allowed students in his care to be violated,” former Clinton staffer Matt Ortega tweeted Thursday.

“If Jim Jordan doesn’t work out for GOP Speaker, they could always just own it and go with Roy Moore,” former Clinton spokesman Jesse Ferguson tweeted Thursday.

All of the tweets either directly reference or alluded to claims that Jordan allegedly ignored sexual abuse of Ohio State wrestlers by the team’s doctor when he was an athletic coach at the school as if they were fact.

Yet these claims have never been proven in court, and there are questions about their accuracy. Fellow coaches have disputed the allegations, saying that they are “‘absolutely wrong.’”

Two accusers leading the charge have a sketchy past, with one being sued for defamation in an unrelated case and another being indicted for fraud.

Jordan announced his bid for speaker on Thursday.
