GOP Rep. Ron DeSantis didn’t have his P.C. filter on when he brought up socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Democrats used the opportunity to spin his words and pounce.
DeSantis was stumping on Florida’s gubernatorial campaign trail when he mentioned Ocasio-Cortez’s politics and said, “You look at this girl Ocasio-Cortez or , I mean, she’s in a totally different universe.”
DeSantis appeared to use the term “whatever she is” as a reference to her often incoherent political arguments. The budding Democrat star calls herself a socialist, but doesn’t seem to be well versed in foreign affairs or U.S. politics.
That was DeSantis’ point when he went on to slam Ocasio-Cortez saying she’s “basically socialism wrapped in ignorance.” He brought up an embarrassing flub last week when the young Democrat couldn’t back up her talking point that Israel’s existence is an “occupation” of Palestinian land.
“You’re just repeating these canned, left-wing talking points, and you’re somehow the savior of the Democratic Party? Good Lord,” DeSantis said Saturday.
“She has no clue, what’s she talking about,” he continued. “She doesn’t understand the principles of the Constitution.”
In the same mind-boggling interview, Ocasio-Cortez brushed off the booming economy and stated without proof or reference that unemployment numbers were low because Americans are all working two jobs.

It wasn’t long before 28-year-old Ocasio-Cortez got wind of DeSantis’s remarks and fired back. While DeSantis’ hard-hitting jabs were clearly a shot at her ignorant politics, Ocasio-Cortez wasted no time spinning them in an effort to make it racially charged.
Rep DeSantis, it seems you‘re confused as to “whatever I am.”
I am a Puerto Rican woman. It‘s strange you don’t know what that is, given that ~75,000 Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida in the 10 mos since María.
But I’m sure these new FL voters appreciate your comments! https://t.co/xJlroSe5Hs

Rep Brendan Boyle (D-PA) upped the ante with more Dem narratives and called out DeSantis’ for being sexist and ageist, and added that he’s not fit to be governor:
Dismissing a candidate like @Ocasio2018 because of gender or age is simply wrong. Anyone who does so is certainly not fit to be governor. https://t.co/1J5srtwEOB

Racist, sexist, ageist … Dems have pretty much checked all their typical boxes to raise another rallying cry that’s based on a lie. This is how it’s played … but, hopefully not for much longer.
DeSantis is currently running to be the Sunshine State’s next governor.
